RENO, NV (Dec. 2) – This week’s Racing Preview highlights a couple of charity events going in our area while over in Northern California a motocross series ends on Sunday. Overseas Formula 1 wraps up its season and we’re getting deeper into the Re-Run Zone.
CAR MEETS:
• Reno Cars & Coffee gets the month rolling Sunday with it’s meet at the Keitzke Starbucks but this time it’s the group’s 5th Annual Toy Run.
They leave at 11:30 and join forces with the 40th Anniversary Reno Toy Run at Reno Harley Davidson on Market Street. This Toy Run is organized by the Northern Nevada Council of Clubs.
Please bring a new unwrapped toy to contribute.
• Further south in Gardnerville Testa Motorsports is also having a Toy Drive. This one goes until December 19 when the gifts are distributed.
These toy drives are a great way to help children that might not receive toys this year.
RACING & PRACTICE MX:
• MMX Racing will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday then from 9 until 3 p.m. Sunday on the usual tracks.
• REP Racing tracks will have practice this weekend but the final round of the 2020 series has a change in venue to Riverfront.
+ E Street MX Park: Practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
+Prairie City: Practice from 9 until 2 p.m. only on Saturday and it’s always a good idea to register on line.
+ Riverfront: Thursday practice is from 4 until 9 p.m. then Saturday gates open at 8 a.m. with practice from 9 until 2 p.m.
Sunday is race day and folks are encouraged to get there early since it appears the track will have a full house. Gates open at 7 a.m. with practice beginning at 9 a.m. and racing to follow.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• On Thursday www.mavtv.com shoulders the load with a series of reruns of races earlier in the year.
Things get going at 1 p.m. with the first motos from this year’s Pro Motocross series and the track is Red Bud. Then at 3 p.m. Motoamerica has a race from Road Atlanta.
Speed Sport, with the Dave Matger Memorial comes on at 4 p.m. followed at 5 p.m. by two hours of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt series events and at 7 p.m. there is part 1 of the Lucas Oil ASCA event at Weatland.
• Friday the attention swings to Bahrain where Formula 2 and Formula 1 end their seasons.
ESPN3.com gets things rolling at 4:05 a.m. with Formula 2 practice then at 5 a.m. ESPN News has Formula 1 Welcome to the Weekend followed by the first practice.
At 7:45 a.m. ESPN3.com comes back with Formula 2 qualifying followed at 9:25 a.m. when ESPN 2 has the second Formula 1 practice.
• Saturday has another early start at ESPN3.com at 4:10 a.m. has the first Formula 2 race. Then at 5:55 a.m. ESPN 2 has the third Formula 1 practice followed at 8:55 a.m. when ESPN News broadcasts Formula 1 qualifying.
Later in the day mavtv has a series of reruns of racing starting at noon with Lucas Oil Saturday Night Racing showing Street Stocks and B Mods. Then at 1 p.m. there is FIA Karting from Belgium.
Then at 1:30 p.m. the network shows a Monster Truck event and at 2 p.m. an ARCA Meenards race.
• Sunday starts at 4:20 a.m. when ESPN3.com has the second Formula 2 race. Then at 5:05 a.m. ESPN 2 has the season ending Formula 1 race from Bahrain.
Since the current world champion Louis Hamilton tested positive for the Wuhan Virus he might not be racing so there will be a different winner if he can’t.
The Formula 1 race is repeated on a delayed basis twice. First repeat is on ESPN News at 4:30 p.m. then at 8 p.m. when ESPN 2 repeats the race.
Not to be left out CBS Sports has a big line up of racing events it’s showing Sunday.
Things begin at 9 a.m. with Motor Sport Mundial followed at 10 a.m. by the off-road British Truck Championships. Then there are a few races from this year’s SCCA Run Offs beginning at 11 a.m. followed at 2 p.m. with several World of Outlaw events.
