RACING PREVIEW: OCT.15 TO 18

RENO, NV (Oct. 14) – This week’s Racing Preview has a car meet,  two non racing gatherings as well as motocross action over the hill and on TV.

In this immediate region this weekend is when people can get ready for the end of the year motorcycle events.

CAR MEETS:

• This Sunday at 10 a.m. Reno Cars & Coffee has a meet, starting at 10 a.m. on the west side of town. The location is the Del Rio Pub and Grill. Should be nice weather so the turn out should also be pretty large.

The meet will have a second part. After the first part ends at noon there is a cruise around Lake Tahoe. The route goes through Truckee south down the west side then looping back up the east side and ending at the Mt.Rose Ski Lodge.

NON-RACING TRACK MEETS:

Top Gun Drag Strip is having a three day camp out with track cleaning and a pot luck dinner Saturday night.

• Top Gun Drag Strip, located south of Fallon is having a three-day camp out, party and track cleanup. On Saturday eveing there is a potluck dinner. Should be a good time while they get the track ready for the coming winter.

NNKC is having a practice day and track clean up Saturday.

• On Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., the Northern Nevada Kart Club is having a practice/work day. They will be getting Desert Park Raceway ready for the winter when only members will be doing practice there.

RACING (MOTOCROSS):

• No word as of yet if the motocross track at 95 Motor Sports Complex has been reset to have practice sessions.

• REP Racing has a race scheduled at one of its track as well as practice sessions at the other two.

REP Racing’s 2020 Fall Series schedule.

     + This Sunday E Street MX Park hosts the second round of the 2020 Fall      Series. Gates open Saturday at 8 a.m. with practice from 9 until 2 p.m. On      Sunday gates open at 7 a.m., practice begins at 9 a.m. with racing to      follow.

     + Riverfront will host MX practice session from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday.      Saturday is for Sierra Old Timers and Sunday is open practice, 9 until 2      p.m. doe both days.

     + Prairie City has practice sessions but remember one must register on line at www.repracingmx.com or you won’t be allowed in. Also no spectators but a minor must have a relative with them.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday is pretty slim with reruns although at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.

Those looking for reruns and other things might want to check out www.youtube.com and www.mavtv.com.

• Friday begins at 9:30 in the morning when www.imsa.tv airs Weathertech Sports Car qualifying from Road Atlanta as teams prepare for the Petit Le Mans event.

Then at 5:30 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has ARCA racing from Kansas.

•  Saturday is the big day for those racing in the IMSA Weathertech Sports Car championship as it’s the Motul Petit LeMans, a 10-hour endurance test.

Broadcasting the race is NBC Sports and the first part starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Then the network returns with the second part starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. after the checkered flag waves.

Fox at 1 p.m. will show the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race starting at 1 p.m. from Kansas. Then at 4 p.m. NBC Sports has the Xfinity race from Kansas.

Fox Sports 1 at 3:30 p.m. has NHRA qualifying from the Texas Motorplex.

• Sunday starts rolling at 10 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Saturday qualifing from Dallas. Then at 11 a.m. the network airs the final rounds for the Texas Fall Nationals.

NASCAR’s visit to Kansas ends when NBC at 11:30 airs the NASCAR Cup race there. It’s a big change from last week on the Roval at Charlotte as the playoffs progress.

There are two same-day delayed broadcast as well. Earlier at 11 a.m. CBS Sports has the DTM (German Touring Car) race from Zolder then at 3:30 p.m. NBC Sports has the Moto GP event from Spain.

That’s it for this week. Should be good weather to be sure to get out, have fun and be safe everyone.

Final points for the I-80 Challenge series.

• Sunday’s races at 95 Motor Sports Complex also ended the I-80 Challenge series. Congratulations to all three champions, Cory Sample in IMCA Modified, David Ausano in Hobby Stocks and Trey Walters in Sprint Cars.

• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show is on the air from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. In the Reno/Sparks area it can be heard on1180 AM.
