RENO, NV (Aug.27) – Sadly weather and circumstances have led to a pair of events being canceled.
Up on the Comstock, despite changes and other adjustments Virginia City will not issue a permit to hold this year’s Virginia City Grand Prix. To say that’s disappointing would be a huge understatement.
The club is working to handle refunds and t-shirt so those should be forth coming in the near future. Of course the big loser in all of this will be the businesses in VC as the event bring in a lot of people the are catered to.
The other news is from Mother Nature. Those storms Wednesday flooded the tracks at 95 Motor Sport Complex. It appears much of the pit area would be a muddy mess not to mention the speedway being flooded as well as much as the spectator parking.
With so much work needed to restore the track, pit areas and parking Saturday’s race has to be canceled. Next race on the schedule is September 12 and hopefully Mother Nature will be kinder to the facility.
In addition to the oval track being flooded so were parts of the motocross track. As a result all practice sessions this weekend have been canceled.
Hopefully by next weekend the motocross track will be dried out. Apparently the jumps did just fine but it’s the low parts of the track that were rendered unusable.
Sorry to bring the sad news but hopefully things will turn around so practice and racing can resume.
REPORTER’S NOTE: Special thanks to Photoflight Productions for allowing me to use their great drone shots showing the flooding at 95 Motor Sports Complex. If one ever needs some drone photographer I suggest you contact them.
