RACING PREVIEW: AUGUST 13 TO 16

RENO, NV (Aug. 12) – Racing Preview for this weekend is another varied menu. It has everything from car meets to international racing, something for about any race or car fan.

CAR MEETS/CRUISES:

Once again the weekend cruises gets rolling with the Fernley Main Street Cruise.

•  Friday gets the weekend rolling with the Fernley Quarantine Main Street Cruise. It runs from 7 until 9 p.m. and the meeting place is the Wigwam.

On Friday at Minden Park there is a car show to benefit the20-30 Club.

• Another car show Friday is the 2020 Main Street Event in Minden. It begins at 4 p.m. at the Minden Park and the funds benefit the 20-30 Club.

On Saturday the Summit Church, located on the Pyramid Highway will have a Show ‘N Shine.

• On Saturday the Summit Church, located at 7075 Pyramid Highway will have a Show ‘N Shine. Times are from 2 until 6:30 p.m. There is a signal to help getting off the highway onto the church’s parking lot.

• On Sunday Reno Cars & Coffee will have their third Sunday of the month meet. The meet begins at 10 a.m. and is at Del Real Pub located at 6148 Mae Anne on the west side of town.

Cars and Pizza has a great way to end the weekend with their meet and eat at the Blind Onion Pizza in Sparks.

• Later Sunday evening Cars and Pizza will have a meet and eat from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Blind Onion Pizza at 295 Los Altos Parkway. It’s close to where the street meets the Pyramid Highway, should be a great way to wind up the weekend.

• Unfortunately two events slated for this weekend have been canceled.

     + To the east the Legends of the West Bike and Car show in Eureka, Nevada has been rescheduled for next year so this year’s event has been canceled.

Due to crowd restrictions this year’s Aces High Rally at the Hard Rock Cafe at Tahoe has been canceled.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• The biggest event of the week has already begun down in Southern Nevada. It’s the Casey Folks Vegas to Reno off-road race. Time trials were Wednesday while Thursday is reserved for tech and registration.

The Casey Folks Vegas to Reno is this weekend and Friday is race day.

In the field are motorcycles, UTV, Buggies, Cars and Trucks and it’s a record number this year. The first bikes are launched early Friday morning and the racing continues into Saturday with the finish line being in the Dayton area.

Finally racing resumes on the oval at 95 Motor Sports Complex.

• Friday night is when 95 Motor Sports Complex returns to action with a 7 p.m. start to the racing. In addition to the regular classes they have added a new Boot-Leg Bomber class, which is a push to pass division.

Summit Raceway will be in action both Friday and Saturday nights.

• To the east Summit Raceway in Elko starts two days of racing with shows on Friday and Saturday. The racing has a 6 p.m. starting time each night.

Diamond Mountain Speedway this weekend has its regular classes plus the Tri-State Pro Stocks.

• Diamond Mountain Speedway is also in action starting at 7 p.m. Saturday. In addition to the regular classes the Tri-State Pro Stocks will be on hand to highlight the show.

RACING AND PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• MMX Racing has Saturday practice from 9 until 2 p.m. using the main, sand and kid’s tracks.

Sunday is the 4th round of the 2020 Summer Sundayz series. Gates open at 6 a.m., practice at 8 a.m. with racing to follow on the sand track. There will still be open practice from 9 until 3 p.m. on the main, vintage and kid’s tracks.

• REP Racing has a full schedule of practice times for its three tracks. Those wishing to ride Prairie City must register online at www.repracingmx.com.

     + E Street has sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

     + Riverfront has Thursday practice from 5 until 10 p.m. then from 9 until 2      p.m. on Sunday.

     + Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and      Sunday.

RACING (NATIIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• This weekend NASCAR returns to the Daytona International Speedway. However the cars will race on the road course rather on the full oval.

• Thursday is a bit busy and begins at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports 2 when Formula E races in Berlin then at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub. Finally at 4:30 p.m. Fox Sports has NHRA in 30.

• Friday is pretty slim but at 2 p.m. www.mavtv.com will air the ARCA race at the Daytona road course.

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series begins Saturday.

• Saturday has the season opening round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series that starts at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, a place where many top riders ended their amateur careers. Both NBC Sports Gold and Mavtv will air the races and their order is:

     + 8 a.m. 250 Moto 1.

     + 9 a.m. 450 Moto 1

     + 10 a.m. 250 Moto 2

     + 11 a.m. 450 Moto 2.

Then at noon NBC Sports has the Xfinity race from Daytona whileNBC has the first day of qualifying for next week’s Indy 500.

• Sunday gets rolling at 6:05 a.m. on ESPN when Formula 1 race in Spain followed at 9 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck race from Daytona.

NBC gets the second day of qualifying for the Indy 500 going at 10 a.m. then at noon the network airs the NASCAR Cup race from the Daytona road course.
