RACING PREVIEW: APRIL 23 TO 26

RENO, NV (April 22) – Racing this week has some live events, more announcements, plus an early heads up. Also have the Simracing schedule for the weekend.

• Sunday morning the Shasta Outlaws 775 has a combination meet and cruise. Location is the 76 Station in Fernley and the meet goes from 10:00 to 11:10 a.m. when the cruise leaves. The destination is Walker Lake and the weather should be great.

Hot August Nights Spring Fever Revival cancellation notice.

• On the down side Hot August Nights announced the annual Spring Fever Revival has been cancelled and rescheduled for 2021.

• Registration for the 49th annual Virginia Grand Prix has been extended. The race has been moved to August so it will happen although the weather should be on the hot side.

Best in the Desert announcement.

 • For those that race in the Best in the Desert series next week, on Friday May 1st at 2 p.m. there will be a virtual town hall. Questions can be asked as the series explains its plans for this year.

MOTOCROSS:

• Sadly since things haven’t been opened up in Nevada and with the crowd restrictions the new motocross track at 95 Motor Sports Complex is still idle. That means all the practice sessions are over in Northern California.

• MMX in Marysville does have some rules for their practice sessions. Their schedule for this week and weekend are:

+ Thursday: Sand and Kids tracks from 2 until 7 p.m.

+ Friday: Main, Sand and Kids tracks from noon until      5 p.m.

+ Saturday: Main, Sand and Kids tracks from 9 until 2      p.m.

+ Sunday, Vintage, Main, Sand and Kids from 9 until      3 p.m.

• REP Racing will also have practice sessions but one      might want to check their website at www.repracingmx.com.

     + Riverfront: Sunday from 9 until 2 p.m.

+ E Street MX Park: Saturday and Sunday from 9      until 2 p.m.

+ Prairie City: Saturday and Sunday from 9 until 2      p.m.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• NASCAR has announced the Martinsville race scheduled for May 8 has been postponed. The governor of Texas has suggested the the Texas race be run without spectators. I’ll let the readers decide what they think of that idea.

• In Formula 1 the Williams team announced their future will be decided if there is racing this year. If the season is cancelled then it appears the team might go under.

Also when racing resumes two of the events might be at the Silverstone course in England. Plans are still up in the air over that decision.

• This week there are a bunch of iRACING events to watch so here is that schedule.

     + Friday, April 24, iRacing Rallycross All Star Round #3: 3 p.m. on      Twitch.tv/iRACING.

+ IndyCar iRacing Challenge Round 5: Saturday, April 25, NBC Sports at      11:30 a.m.

     + eNASCAR Saturday Night Thunder, Saturday, April 25, 5 p.m. on      eNASCAR.com.

+ NASCAR Pro Invitational, Round 4, Sunday, 10 a.m. on FOX and FS1.

That’s it for this weekend. Hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer before green flags will wave again and racing begins. Until then stay safe and have a great weekend.
