AWARDS BANQUET FOR OTHG

SPARKS, NV (Jan 25) – The Over The Hill Gang (OTHG) held it’s annual awards banquet at Pinocchio’s in Sparks. It was a night honoring the top points winners, celebrating class championships in the national series as well as enjoying a great raffle.

Outgoing president Sedanna Losey was the MC for the night.

“We had a huge race at the Nationals and the Sandbox Grand Prix was a huge success,” she said.

She then related how it’s been for the past two years helping motocross to continue in this region. After that it was time to thank the 2019 board for all their hard work.

Then she gave special thanks to those individuals that help with things like working in the course, driving the water truck, lap checkers was well as the group working in the scoring trailer.

Some of the raffle prizes for the night.

After a buffet dinner and at various times raffle tickets were drawn and the winners got to choose the prizet they wanted. Over to the side was a special motocross cake as well as one for Aaron Bissell to celebrate his birthday.

To help celebrate the night there was a special moto cake.

Just a couple of years ago the motocross community lost Harry Trainer, an institution, who not only raced but helped out as well. After he passed OTHG created a trophy in his honor, which is given to a member that has contributed a great deal to the club.

Blair Richarddson is the winner of this year’s Harry Trainer award.

This year the Harry Trainer Award went to Blair Richardson, who also the club’s webmaster.

The Sportsman of the Year award went to Claire Petrie.

After more raffle tickets were chosen all of the local OTHG national class winners where honored. Everyone got a Number One plate for their bike and a jersey with their name on it.

The winners were Scott Stillmock, Keith Mansfield, Tom Molloy, Troy Decker and Pat Holland.

Now it was time for the trophies to be handed out. Losey explained the rankings came from help points as well as racing. Places 11 through 20 got a jacket as well as a trophy.

Trophies for the top 10 in points that includes the tri-level shop kart.

The top 10 got a three level rolling shop kart and to show everyone what they looked like one had been assembled. That kart was a big hit with one member’s toddler son as he kept trying to crawl into it.

Besides the jacket and shop kart the top five also received goggles.

Claire Petrie was the top points getter this past season.

This year’s champion was Claire Petrie, who races in Women’s Novice while 52+ Novice racer Troy Decker was the runner up.

At the end of the program Losey introduced her successor Danny Martin, who takes over as the club president. He first complimented her for the past two years of effort and commitment.

Closing the evening is when outgoing OTHG president Sedanna Losey introduced her successor Danny Martin.

“Four years ago I started racing and three years ago I got into the club,” he said. “I was race director and that really opened my eyes into what it takes to run these races. I hope I can follow in her footsteps.”

After thanking everybody it was time to enjoy the cakes before leaving.
