RENO, NV (Dec. 4) – Racing Preview for this week puts us deep in the Re-Run Zone. However there is an annual Toy Run and the NASCAR awards ceremony to watch in addition to the reruns.
LOCAL EVENTS:
• The big event here is on Sunday when the Northern Nevada Confederation of Clubs hosts its 39th annual Toy Run. This event will go on rain or shine.
All types of motorcycles are welcome and registration is at Reno Harley Davidson from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Then the parade begins that should loop through downtown and end at the Convention Center where a meal is served for those that chose that option at sign up.
Even if a person isn’t a rider they can donate an unwrapped toy or make a donation to help the cause.
• Over in Sparks that same day at 10 a.m. Sparks Cars & Coffee hosts its monthly meet by the Buffalo Wild Wings close to the Target store. Depending on the weather there might be some great cars to look at.
MOTOCROSS PRACTICE:
• Two storms are heading toward Northern California this weekend. As a result I won’t try and post the practice schedule for the four motocross tracks over there.
My advice is to call the hotline first to see if they are open or not.
The hotline for the MMX track is 530-777-9724. The hotline for E Street MX Park, Riverfront and Prairie City is 775-265-7223.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• NASCAR moved its Championship Week to Nashville this year. The daily happenings will be streamed on at live feed from www.nascar.com while the Broadway Burnouts from Wednesday can be seen on NBC Sports at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Kyle Busch and the other top 15 teams will be honored at Thursday’s Monste Energy NASDCAR Cup banquet which starts at 5 p.m. also on NBC Sports.
• Now we head into the Re-Run Zone over at www.MAVTV.com. There is a long list of events being shown but at 3 p.m. the network shows the Summer Shootout Series followed by the Super Cup Stock Car Series then Outlaw Figure 8 racing.
After that comes Short Track American, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Speed Sport and finally Madera Racing.
• As usual Friday is very slim but one might want to try www.youtube.com or even www.fanschoice.tv. That latter service apparently is going away and become part of the NBC Gold package.
• On Saturday it’s back to the Ru-Run zone on MAVTV. The network begins streaming Pro Motocross Championship racing starting at noon followed at 2 p.m. with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Then at 3 p.m. there is a FIM Sidecarcross followed by Ton Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions and at 6 the network streams Speedway Saturday Night Races.
• Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. is when CBS Sports gets into the action. The first two shows are from this year’s SCCA Run Offs and features the Spec Ford and Formula Vee classes.
Then at 3 p.m. the Network streams a Virgin Australia Super Car event followed at 4 by World out Outlaws then Lucas Oil Off Road Racing and finally at 6 p.m. Formula Drift.
That’s it for this weekend. Hope you’ll help out one of the toy drives in your area. Until next time have a safe weekend everyone.
OTHER RACING NEWS:
• Teresa’s Garage Radio Show will be on from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The show covers all things automotive plus information for a class that deals with collisions.
I have a preview section at 2:15 where I go over what is coming up for the weekend. You can listen to us over the air in the Reno/Sparks area, streaming on the Internet and see us live or later on Face Book.
