RACING PREVIEW: NOV. 28 TO DEC. 1

RENO, NV (Nov. 27) – Racing Preview this week highlights the final race of the season for an International series. And an awards banquet as well as the annual trip into the Re-Run Zone on TV and the Internet.

• On Sunday two car groups join forces this weekend for Toy Runs to help disadvantaged children have a bright Christmas. Unwrapped toys are needed for the Children’s Cabinet.

Reno Cars & Coffee has its 4th Annual Toy Driver this Sunday.

Reno Cars and Coffee get things rolling with their usual first weekend of the month meet at the Keitzke Starbucks and this time it’s their 4th Annual Toy Run. Cars begin to gather at 10 a.m. than at 11:30 they hit the road and head up 580 to the Northtowne Winco Parking lot located east of the freeway off McCarran.

Meeting them will be the Old Slammers of Reno Club, a vintage VW group, hosting their 7th Toys for Kids drive. Their meet begins at 11 a.m. and goes to 3 p.m. with the toys going to the Children’s Cabinet.

All are welcome and even if you want to just see the cars pleas try and an unwrapped toy for a child to enjoy this Christmas.

• For the racers out there on Saturday, Marysville Raceway has the Annual Racer’s Swap Meet. It starts at 7 a.m. and will run until 2 p.m. no matter what the weather brings. For further information please call 530-350-7275.

MOTOCROSS PRACTICE:

• Here are the practice session schedule for the Northern California motocross tracks. Remember with weather coming in these are subject to change so call before heading out.

+ MMX has a Black Friday session from 9 until 2 p.m. on the main, sand and kid’s track. If the weather doesn’t mess things up they’ll have practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, plus the vintage track will be open.

+ Riverfront is supposed to have practice from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday but again call   first. Then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

+ Prairie City is also supposed to have practice from noon until 5 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

+ E Street MX Park is supposed to have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Best bet before heading out on the weekend is to call the REP Racing MX hotline at 775-265=7223.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• For the next few weeks TV and the Internet will be deep in the Re-Run Zone. However there are a few live racing events to be seen.

Thursday gets rolling at 9 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 broadcasts NASCAR Hub.

Switching over to the Internet www.mavtv.com has a series of races to air, all repeats of course, starting at noon with Super Cup Stock Card Series. After this its Outlaw Figure 8 racing then at 2 p.m. it’s time for Short Track America.

Then there is a series of races to be shown starting at 3 p.m. by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and at 4 p.m. Speed Sport News.

• This weekend the Formula 1 Circus ends its season in Abu Dhabi. Friday begins at 12:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 broadcast practice #1 then at 4:55 a.m. ESPN U has the second practice.

As usual Friday is pretty slim pickings so it’s a good time to check out www.fanschoice.tv or go over to www.youtube.com for races one might like to see.

• Friday has an early start as at 1:55 a.m. ESPN 2 has Formula 1 practice #3. Then at 4:55 a.m. the network airs qualifying.

Switching back to MAVtv there is a host of motor sports events they are showing. At noon there is Pro Motocross followed at 2 p.m. by Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

Then at 3 it’s the wild FIM Sidecarcross series followed at 4 p.m. by Lucas Oil ASCA 2019. Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions comes on at 5 then at 6 p.m. it’s Local Oil Speedway Saturday Night Racing.

• Sunday is when the globe trotting Formula 1 series ends its season. The race starts at 5:05 a.m. on ESPN 2 then is repeated at 3 p.m. on ESPN News.

Also getting an early start at 9 a.m. over on CBS Sports is Jet Skiing, AquaX. Then at noon the networks airs the Blancpain GT World Challenge race and at 2 p.m. starts a bunch of Formula Drift events.

NBC Sports also has a show at 1:30 when they show the Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour.

For you NASCAR fans at 6 p.m. NBC Sports has the Xfinity Series awards banquet. This year the NASCAR Cup awards have moved to Nashville and I’ll have the schedule of events in Monday’s article.
