RACING PREVIEW: OCT. 31 TO NOV. 3

RENO, NV (Oct. 30) – Racing Preview this week highlights the reduced schedule for racing in our region and nationally. The end of the season can be wild as racers try to improve their point’s standings and clinch titles.

CAR MEETS:

• Reno Cars & Coffee gets the month started with a meet at Kietzke Starbucks. Things get started around 10 a.m. and there is usually a great selection of cars as well as people to see and visit with.

RACING (REGIONAL):

• VORRA returns for the Fight at Fort Sage, which is a Friday-Saturday event. Friday is for tech and pre running while racing begins at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The Fort Sage OHV area is located to the east of Doyle, California, about an hour’s drive from Reno but getting there will take at least a hour and a half.

For further information please check their Face Book Page or www.vorra.net. It’s a historic event since this is the first off road race for the series in Northern California.

• Sprint Car fans rejoice, there is a Friday-Saturday event for you at the Stockton Dirt Track. The action begins at 5 p.m. Friday then at 4 p.m. Saturday.

It’s the final race of the season for the King of the West, NARC series, celebrating their 60th anniversary, and the championship will be decided on the final night.

• Battle Born MX is in Winnemucca this weekend for the penultimate round of their 2019 season. Saturday practice is usually from 9 until 2 p.m. then on Sunday they try for a 9 a.m. start to the motos.

REPORTER’S NOTE: Remember Saturday night we switch from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time. Be sure to set your clocks back an hour.

• The practice times for the Northern California Motocross tracks are as follows;

   + MMX Racing has sessions from 9    until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

   + E Street MX Park also has practice   from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and    Sunday.

   + Riverfront has practice from 4    until 9 p.m. Thursday then 9 until 2   p.m. Sunday.

   + Prairie City is closed this    weekend.

RACING (NATIONAL):

• Switching to TV Land Thursday is usually thin but there are three programs to note. At 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR American followed at 3 p.m. over on Fox Sports 1 with NASCAR Race Hub.

ESPN 3 at 3 p.m. has Formula 1: Welcome to the Weekend.

• Friday gets rolling at 8:55 a.m. when ESPN U airs the first Formula 1 practice from Austin, Texas then at 12:55 p.m. the second session.

• At 11 a.m. NBC Sports has Xfinity practice from Texas followed at 2 with NASCAR Cup practice.

Fox Sports 1 at 4 p.m. has NHRA Friday Night Nitro from the Strip at Las Vegas.

• Saturday is another busy day starting at 10:55 a.m. with the third Formula 1 practice then at 1:55 airs the qualifying.

At 2:30 CNBC has Xfinity qualifying then NBC Sports at 4 p.m. has the NASCAR Cup qualifying session followed at 5:30 with the Xfinity race

• Switching over to the Internet www.fanschoice.tv at 5 p.m. airs the JM Environmental race from All American Speedway at Roseville, California.

Then at 6 p.m. they stream the Malicious Monster Truck Tour from Tucson Speedway.

• Back to TV Land as Sunday begins at 10:30 a.m. as ABC broadcasts the Formula 1 race from the Circuit of the American located in Austin, Texas. If all goes according to plan, never a sure thing in racing, Lewis Hamilton will notch his sixth world championship.

Not far away at Texas Motor Speedway, NBC Sports airs the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race starting at noon. Eight drivers will go in with four of them above the cutoff line but in two weeks only four will be left the final race at Homestead.

Over on Fox Sports 1 at noon it’s the NHRA Sunday Live show followed at 1 p.m. with the final rounds from the Dodge Nationals from Las Vegas. With only one more event left on this year’s schedule it’s a critical time for those trying to secure a championship.

Finally from 2 until 3 p.m. CBS Sports airs two World of Outlaw events.
