RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 6 TO 9

RENO, NV (June 5) — Racing Preview for this weekend is full of events, especially car and motorcycle ones for this area. There are plenty of events to enjoy in TV Land as well as on the Internet.

CARS AND CRUISES:

• The weekend gets rolling with another Thursday night cruise in Carson City. These events benefit a different charity every week.This time the meeting place is Vino╒s Pizza at 5 p.m. then after that the cruise will get going.’

• Friday has another cruise in, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Summit Racing located at 960 Glendale Avenue in Sparks. Another great way to meet car people and a relaxing way to wind down the work-week.

• One of the big events in spring is the annual Street Vibrations Spring Rally in downtown Reno. There are a variety of things to do including rides and poker runs.

It’s also a good time to see the motorcycles and other goods offered. The Rally begins Friday and runs through Sunday.

• Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. is when Miller’s Chop Shop has its annual car show. The shop is located at 850 Watson Way, just off East Glendale Ave. in Sparks.

• If you want to get out of town Hot August Nights is having a Show N’ Shine from 9 until 3 p.m. at Squaw Valley. Over in Loyalton, from 9 until 3 p.m. is the Recycled Relics Car Show.

• On Sunday Baldini’s Casino is having Cops and Burgers to benefit another charity.

• Sparks Cars and Coffee is having its second weekend of the month meeting. This time, due to the response, there is a new location with more parking and easier access.

The meet begins at 9 a.m. and the location is by the Buffalo Wild Wings located at 1560 East Lincoln Way in Sparks.

REPORTER’S NOTE: One more week before Women With Wheels happens in Virginia City. Ladies if you have a car you want show off this is for you.

There are various prizes and one of the trailers is actually a dress shop with retro styles from the 40’s and 50’s. So time to sign up and plan on a great day up on the Comstock.

RACING (LOCAL AND REGIONAL):

• Racing Preview highlights several races in our area as well as this region, it’s a full weekend.

• Biggest event of the weekend is at Top Gun Drag Strip located south of Fallon. It’s not only Octane Fest out there but the NHRA Pacific National Open is on tap.

Friday is for testing and tuning then on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. time trials begin with a 1 p.m. start to eliminations. Sunday’s time trials start at 8:30 a.m. with eliminations beginning at 11 a.m.

To the east of downtown Rattlesnake Raceway has a full slate of events start at noon with the Outlaw Karts. Then at 4 p.m. there is a car show followed by mud bogs, demolition derby and some racing as well.

• Closer to home the annual Supercrawl visits  Wild West Motorsports Park, located off I-80 east of Sparks, this weekend.

It’s a Saturday and Sunday event with the action beginning around 9 a.m. each day. What this event lacks for speed it more than makes up for it with spell binding displays of technical skill and amazing vehicles.

. Another weekend event, running Friday through Sunday is the annual Pylon Racing Seminar. This is where pilots qualify to race in the upcoming Air Races this fall.

• Up in Susanville, California the Diamond Mountain Speedway will be racing starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

• Several Northern California Motocross tracks will have practice sessions this week and weekend.

MMX has sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

E Street MX Park is open again with practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Sierra Old Timers are having their national round at Prairie City this weekend. Gates open Friday at 7 a.m. with practice scheduled from 9 until 2 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday gates will open at 6:30 a.m. with practice starting at 8 a.m. and racing to follow.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Now Racing Preview switches to TV Land with some Internet fare as well.

• Thursday is when NBC Sports, at 2 p.m. airs NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. by Fox Sports 1 broadcasting NASCAR Race Hub.

Then at 5 p.m. NBC Sports Gold has Indy Car Practice #1 from Texas. Over on www.motortrendondemand.com at 8 p.m. they’ll show highlights from Isle of Mann 2019.

• Friday gets rolling at noon when Fox Sports 2 has delayed broadcast of NASCAR Cup practice from Michigan followed by Xfinity practice.

Over on NBC Sports Gold at noon there is Indy Car practice #2 followed at 3:30 p.m. by qualifying from Texas.

• Saturday gets going at 7:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 2 has Xfinity then NASCAR Cup qualifying from Michigan followed at 9:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the Xfinity race.

Over on ESPN News at 10:55 there is Formula 1 qualifying from Canada.

Indy Cars

At 5:30 p.m. NBC Sports has the Indy Car race from Texas. Then at 7 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Saturday Night Nitro from the NHRA Heartland Nationals in Kansas.

• Switching over to the Internet www.fanschoice.tv as a full list of races to stream on Saturday night.

Things begin at 3:30 p.m. at Langley Speedway then at 5:45 everything moves over to Meridian Speedway.

There are two events listed at 6 p.m. so don’t know which one we’ll get to see. One is at Tucson Speedway while the other is at Magic Valley Speedway.

Then at 7 p.m. there is a NASCAR/INEX event streamed from Alaska Raceway Park and finally at 7:30 p.m. a K&N Pro West race from Colorado National Speedway will end the day.

• Switching back to TV Land Sunday is a bit slower but Fox Sports 1 leaves the starting gate at 9 a.m. with NHRA Sunday Live. Over on ABC at 9:30 a.m. the Formula 1 race from Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Canada will be broadcast.

Fox or Fox Sports 1 at 11 a.m. airs the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Michigan. Finally at 2:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 broadcast the NHRA Heartland Nationals from Kansas.

That’s for this weekend so if possible be sure to get out and see a race live. There is nothing like it and you can see everything and not just what TV wants you to see.
