RENO, NV (May 1) – Racing preview for this week has area oval tracks, motocross as well as several special events in our area.
CAR MEETS, CRUISES & SPECIAL EVENTS:
• On Friday from 3 until 5 p.m. there is the Endurofest Women’s Riding Clinic at Wild West Motorsports Park. The instructor is Ty Tremaine and will focus on how to ride technical terrain.
The annual Elevated Action Sports IRC Endurocross is a Saturday event but Friday is for registration and other things. Action begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues through the day.
• On Saturday the Longrider Cowboys Motorcycle club is having it’s 15th annual Poker Run benefiting MDA. Signups begin at 9 a.m. at the Ole Tyme Saloon.
• At 10 a.m. there is the 3rd Annual Cruisin’ Memory Lane car show at Morning Star Senior Living of Sparks. It’s a great time to show these cars to seniors that might not be able to get out and see these cars.
• On Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. Reno Cars & Coffee will hold its first weekend of the month meet at the Kietzke Starbucks.
RACING (REGIONAL):
• Friday and Saturday the American Valley Speedway hosts a WSDCA Dwarf National event.
Friday is for heat races with IMCA Modifieds and Mini Stocks. Saturday has the Dwarf Car finals as well as Sport Mods and Hobby Stocks with the action beginning at 6 p.m. each night.
• Finally, with good weather Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon can get its postponed season rolling. Outlaw Karts should start around noon with the cars on the track at 6 p.m. with kids rides during intermission.
• Battle Born MX will stage the next race in its spring series this weekend. Saturday is for practice then starting around 9 a.m. Sunday racing will begin.
• Finally the Northern Nevada Kart Club has the second race of its season at Desert Park Raceway, located on the dirt extension of Lemmon Drive. Heat races should begin around 9 a.m. followed by the main events.
• Northern California motocross tracks have practice sessions scheduled for this weekend. MMX has sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The big track at Prairie City is closed until after the Hangtown Nationals. However the Arenacross track is open for Mini Bikes on Friday from 5 until 10 p.m. then for Big Bikes from 5 until 10 p.m. Saturday.
E Street MX has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has Thursday practice from 5 until 10 p.m. then from until 2 p.m. on Sunday.
RACING (NATIONAL):
Now Racing Preview heads over to TV and Internet Land for what’s on this weekend.
• Thursday is pretty slim but at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.
A good place to see races one may have missed is www.youtube.com.
• Friday gets going as Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Cup qualifying from Dover then at 2 p.m. the network broadcasts the Gander Outdoors Truck Race. Finally at 4:30 p.m. the network has NHRA Friday Nitro Live.
• Saturday starts on Fox Sports 1 at 7 a.m. as the network airs Xfinity Series qualifying followed by the series race at 10:30 as drivers face the Monster Mile at Dover.
Later that day at 7 p.m. the USA Network and NBC Sports Gold have live coverage of the AMA Supercross event from Las Vegas. After this final race we’ll know, who the champions are.
Over on the Internet there are a series of races being shown on www.fanschoice.tv. The events begin at 1 p.m. and run through the afternoon as various tracks have events streamed.
• Sunday on Racing Preview has several major events to be seen on TV.
Fox Sports 1 gets things rolling at 8:30 a.m. with NHRA Sunday Live. Then at 11 a.m. the network airs the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Dover.
Over on NBC Sports at 10:30 a.m. there is the IMSA Weathertech Sports Car Championship race from Mid Ohio.
Finally at 3 p.m., on a delayed basis, Fox Sports 1 will have the final round from the NHRA Southern Nat’s in Atlanta.
OTHER RACING NEWS:
• Once again Teresa’s Garage Radio Show will be on from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday. The show covers all things automotive.
