Members of the Silver Barons MC were collecting Easter Baskets to give to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.

“We were trying to decide where we could help out, put our time and money into. The best choice we could find was the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation so we went with that one,” he said.

During the morning riders arrived and many brought Easter Baskets that would be distributed to the kids in need. In addition the Barons had special T-Shirts for the event that were on sale.

All during the day people kept arriving, dropping off baskets and making the pile grow ever larger. Several youngsters also checked out all the goodies.

Two of the youngsters donating Easter Baskets were 8-year-old Eli and his 6-year-old sister Aliveah. Their mother brought them from California to donate the baskets.

Two youngsters were driven in by their mother so 6-year-old Aliveah and her 8-year-old brother Eli could donate two baskets to the collection.

The Silver Barons have other charity events they participate in although this was the first one for the Nomads.

“Our Virginia City Chapter does Thanksgiving for the seniors up there and we help out with Christmas,” Stout said.

Unfortunately due to other circumstances the ride never took place but the event was still a success.

Asked about this Silver Baron member Sean Kerr said, “We exceeded the amount of baskets we wanted to get for the kids that are part of the Foundation to the point where they’re also going to let us donate some to other charities we have in mind so that’s a huge success. Then the spirit of it was to raise the money that’s really what they needed was money and out t-shirt drive earned every dollar that we promised we could raise.

“So we hit our goal and we hit it early. I feel it was a great success other than the weather and a little lack of organization kind of fell apart on us at the end but it was our first event. I take it upon my shoulders to make it even better next time.”

Now the Silver Barons will examine how to make this an even better event for the next time. For further information about the club please check their Facebook page at, www.facebook.com/silverbarons.
