RENO, NV (April 17) – Racing preview for this weekend is a bit slim on live action due to the Easter Holiday. However there is a live race here and some on the Internet.
CARS & RIDES:
- Saturday’s highlight is a special benefit rider put on by the Silver Barons Motorcycle Club of Nevada from Virginia City. Their function benefits the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.
It’s the Nomad’s First Easter Basket Ride from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The meeting place is Reno Harley-Davidson where baskets can be dropped off and one doesn’t have to be a rider to donate a basket.
- Sunday is Easter and when Reno Cars & Coffee has a meet at the Robb Drive Starbucks from 10 until noon. It’s a great way to meet fellow car people or just enjoy seeing cars.
RACING (LOCAL AND REGIONAL):
- This week’s Racing Preview has another oval track finally starting its season. It all starts Friday at 5 p.m. with a car show at Stockman’s Casino in Fallon.
Saturday is when Rattlesnake Raceway begins it’s delayed season. Outlaw Karts begin at noon followed at 6 p.m. by the cars.
There will be a meet and greet during intermission and adding to the show are the Dwarf Cars as their event was rained out in early April.
BREAKING NEWS: AFTER I POSTED THIS ARTICLE WAS INFORMED, DUE TO THE VERY SOFT INFIELD AND TRACK, THE OUTLAW KARTS HAVE BEEN CANCELED. THE TRACK UNSUITABLE FOR RACING.
• Over the hill good weather means practice sessions at all but one Northern California motocross track.
MMX will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. For further information please call the hotline at 530-419-5200.
E Street MX Park is still closed due to needed items including cameras. Prairie City has practice Thursday from 3 until 7 p.m. and from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Riverfront has practice from 5 until l0 p.m. Thursday. There is a main event ride from 9 until 2 p.m. on Saturday but Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is for open practice.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL)
- Since it’s Easter weekend with three exceptions we’re in the Rerun Zone for this Racing Preview.
• Thursday at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR American followed at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 with NASCAR Race Hub.
Over on www.mavtv.com there is a series of events starting at noon with Powri Racing, followed by Super Cup Stock Car Series and Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing. Continuing there is the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Speed Sport and finally Madera Racing.
• Friday has an early start at 4:40 a.m. when www.motortrendondemand.com has part one of the 12-Hours of Spa. An extremely fast classic road course in Belgium.
After that one can check out other sources for any races that have been missed. Some of them are www.youtube.com or www.lucasoilracing.com and for you World of Outlaw fans, www.dirtvision.com.
• Saturday on Racing Preview is the most active day with live racing. Things get going early at 12:35 a.m. when motortrendondemand airs the second part of the 12-Hours of Spa.
Then in the afternoon it’s over to www.fanschoice.tv for a series of streamed live events.
American Flat Track gets things rolling at 1 p.m. from the Texas Half Mile followed by 2 p.m. when Berlin Raceway hosts the 8th annual Ice Breaker races. Then at 4 p.m. there is a race from Langely Speedway and the day ends at 5:45 p.m. at Meridian Speedway has its sprint car opener.
• Sunday is back to TV Land and the Rerun Zone. Once again MAVTV has a day full of events.
Not to be left out CBS Sports, at 8 a.m. has the Trucks Grand Finale followed by Snowmobile racing. Then at 10 a.m. Fox Sports 2 airs NHRA Pro Stocks from Houston.
The afternoon starts at 2 p.m. when NBC Sports broadcasts one part of it’s Reno Air Race coverage from last year, There are two more parts that will be shown later.
Moving back to CBS Sports at 4 p.m. it’s the Blancpain GT World Challenge then at 5 p.m. the Lucas Oil Off Road Series and the day ends at 6 p.m. with Virgin Australia Supercars.
