RENO, NV (March 11) – This time the season preview is focused on oval tracks here in Northern Nevada plus one in California. Please note that the first part of every schedule is tentative as the weather has been so unpredictable this year so be sure to check with a track’s website before that weekend.
If the Mother Nature doesn’t throw a spanner into the works Fernley 95A Speedway will get things rolling. They have an open practice slated starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16.
The season opener will start at 6 p.m. Saturday evening March 23rd. From there the season rolls on and will include a 360 sprint cars racing for a championship specific to the track.
The sprint cars are like those in the Northern Nevada Winged Sprint series and will appear April 27, June 29, August 17 and ending with the two-day show on October 12 and13. The Nevada Pro Stock Association also has two visits to the track.
This year the track hosts the first ever visit by the World of Outlaws sprint car series. It’s a Sunday race on September 15h with a concert at the track Saturday evening on September 14th.
Once again best to check with the track’s website in the early part of the season. That site is www.fernley95Aspeedway.com.
Next to wave the green flag on its season will be Rattlesnake Raceway located east of downtown Fallon. There apparently has been a slight change in the schedule.
Due the track being underwater Play Day is now March 30. The annual car show at Stockman’s Casino is on Friday April 5 while the first race starts at 6 p.m. for the cars on April 6.

The big race of the year is the two-day Frontier Days races August 2nd and 3rd as that’s when the visiting series will be on hand. For further information please check the track’s website at www.lovelockspeedway.org.

Continuing east Battle Mountain Raceway begins its season Saturday, April 13th with a 4 p.m. start time. The track also has Outlaw Karts that run the same dates as the cars.

There is a play day slated for Sunday, April 14 with the first race scheduled for April 27th. Races usually start at 6 p.m. and the track is home for the Nevada Outlaw Dwarf cars.
The weekend of May 3rd and 4th is when the WSDCA Dwarf Nationals visits the track. There is another two-day show Friday and Saturday July 19th and 20th.
