RACING PREVIEW: NOV. 22 TO 25

RENO, NV (Nov.21) – Racing Preview illustrates that we are about out of competition for this year but there are a few events still to be seen. Other than that, we’re in the Rerun Zone until after New Year’s.

CARS:

  • No car meets this weekend but there is an annual event starting this week.

Testa Motorsports in Monday is having its annual Toy Drive where people are asked to bring an unwrapped toy. This year part of the donations will make their way to California to help those families that lost everything in the Paradise fire.

•     Next week I’ll have information about two other local toy drives.

•     Want to work off a few calories on Thanksgiving? Well Sacramento Pits, a trials bike group, is having a ride at Moon Rocks starting around 11 a.m. They suggest bringing some food and it might to into the night.

Want to burn off more calories? Reno Area Dirt Riders is having a ride Saturday that goes from Chickadee to Moon Rocks and back. The distance is about 40 miles and the time given is 10:30 a.m.

•     Due the approaching storm motocross practice sessions are canceled for Riverfront and Prairie City tracks. How much rain will determine if or where practice sessions will happen this weekend.

RACING (INTERNATIONAL):

  • Over on the Internet there is www.motortrendondemand.com, which has live racing this weekend while the domestic channels are all in the Re Run Zone.

•     Thursday is the day to enjoy Thanksgiving and other things but if you want to see some racing reruns try www.youtube.com or www.fanschoice.tv.

•     Friday gets going on Motor Trend at 4:30 p.m. as the Virgin Australian Supercars have qualifying for their first race of the weekend.

One needs to remember it’s Saturday over there and they are in late spring.

This week the series is in Newcastle and there is a 8:20 p.m. start to the first race

At 11 p.m. the networks will broadcast the S-X Open International Supercross event from Auckland, New Zealand.

•     Saturday starts at 4:55 a.m. as ESPN 2 has Formula One qualifying from Abu Dhabi.

Switching back to Motor Trend at 3:45 p.m. on Motor Trend with qualifying from the Australian Supercars event.

At 3 p.m., must be a separate item on the menu, there is the Asian LeMans Series 4 Hours of Shanghai.

The Virgin Australian Supercars are in Newcastle this weekend for a two-day event.

Then at 5:45 p.m. there is the Supercars Top 10 Shootout followed at 8:15 p.m. with the second race from Newcastle.

•     Sunday gets rolling at 4:30 a.m. when ESPN 2 brings the final Formula One race of this season from Abu Dhabi.

NBC Sports at 2:30 p.m. has Racerman followed at 3 p.m. by the Motorsports Hour.

Not to be left out CBS Sports also has racing beginning at 2 p.m. with a Trans Am race followed by the Motorsports Hour. Then at 4 p.m. the network has World of Champions World Finals followed by Powerboat racing.
