RACING PREVIEW: NOV. 15 TO 18

RENO, NV (Nov. 14) – Racing Preview this week features the final race in our region for 2018 plus races in Northern California as well as nationally. Now we start to slip into the Rerun Zone until after the New Year.

CARS:

  • Reno Cars and Coffee will have its third weekend of the month from 10 a.m. until noon this Sunday. The location is the Starbucks at 1610 Robb Drive and all are welcome.

Hopefully Robert Malm will begin this fantastic restoration of a 1986 Chevy Monte Carlo for all to see. While it might look stock the Corvette Engine under the hood shows it might not be.

RACING (REGIONAL):

•    For those interested in the Nevada Pro Stock Association there General Meeting starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The location is 155 Glendale Avenue #3 at the Reno Sparks Auction Company

It’s a chance to ask question, share ideas and go over the rules and by-laws. In addition the proposed improved pay-out schedule will be discussed.

•    The final race in our region for this year will be at the Sandbox, or Fernley Motocross Track this weekend. It ends the Battle Born MX fall series.

Saturday has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. then on Sunday gates open at 6 a.m., practice starts at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. start to racing. Weather should be cool but otherwise nice

  • Over the hill in Northern California there will be two races this weekend.

The Wilseyville Hare Scrambles has changed its name to #Race4Paradise and all proceeds are going to be donated to help those that lost their homes in this tragic fire.

This weekend’s Wiseyville Hare Scrambles changed its name to honor those that lost everything in Paradise, California

Pre registration closed Wednesday but one can register at the track. For further information please check the website at, www.ama-d36.org.

•    The other race is Round 1 of the Best in the West Championship Series. This weekend the track is Riverfront and there will be an open practice from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday.

Saturday gates open at 8 a.m. with practice from 9 until 2 p.m. then on Sunday gates open at 7 a.m., practice starts at 9 a.m. with racing to follow.

E Street MX Park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Over at Prairie City there is Thursday practice from 1 until 5 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

  • This is championship weekend for the top three NASCAR series as titles will be determined at Homestead, Florida.

On Thursday at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR America followed on Fox Sports at 3 p.m. with NASCAR Race Hub. All practice sessions at the track won’t be on TV.

Camping World Truck Series.

  • Friday starts at 11:35 a.m. as NBC Sports has Xfinity practice then Fox Sports at 1:45 p.m. has Truck series qualifying. NBC Sports comes back at 3:10 p.m with NASCAR Cup qualifying followed by Fox Sports 1 at 5 p.m. with the Camping World Truck Series championship race.

•    Saturday gets rolling at 8:35 a.m. as NBC Sports has NASCAR Cup practice followed at 9:35 a.m. with Xfinity qualifying. Then at 11 a.m. the network airs the final NASCAR Cup practice followed at 12:30 p.m. with the Xfinity Series championship race.

Over on the Velocity channel at 6:30 p.m. will be the FIA World Endurance race the 6 Hours of Shanghai.

•    Sunday gets off to an early start at 5 a.m. as www.beinsports.com broadcasts the MotoGP event from Valencia.

At 11 a.m. CBS Sports has the Mobil 1 The Grid show while at that same time NBC Sports has the Motorsports Hours

NASCAR

It’s all on the line at Homestead Sunday as the drivers that made the final cut race for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup.

Then at noon NBC airs the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup championship race from Homestead. The Cup champion will be known when the year’s final checkered flag is out.

Locally KAME, channel 21, has racing starting at 3:30 p.m.

Then www.mavtv.com has four races in the afternoon starting at 3 p.m. with the final Lucas Oil Drag Boat races.

In the news Lucas Oil announced that it will cease operation of the drag boat series after 10 years. The banquet in January has been canceled and now the series will have to find a new title sponsor.

Back to mavtv as they show the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League starting at 4 p.m. followed at 5 p.m. with Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions.

Finally we here at nvracingnews want to off our best wishes to those Northern Nevada racers competing in this week’s Baja 1000 and the Superkarts USA Super Nationals in Las Vegas.
