RENO, NV (Nov.21) – Racing Preview illustrates that we are about out of competition for this year but there are a few events still to be seen. Other than that, we’re in the Rerun Zone until after New Year’s. CARS: No car meets this weekend but there is an annual event starting this week. BATTLE BORN MX ENDS SEASON AT THE SANDBOX
FERNLEY, NV (11-18) – Battle Born MX ended its 2018 season here at the Sandbox or the Fernley/Wadsworth Lions Club Motocross Track. Nice weather highlighted a good day of racing. Due to the fires in Northern California and a race being postponed there, several racers came to Fernley expanding the rider total to 334 for Sunday. The big race was when the 250/450 Intermediate and Pro racers were on the track. Their motos are longer than the other classes races. Reno’s Ryan Ferris scored a double as he won both motos. RENO, NV (Nov. 14) – Racing Preview this week features the final race in our region for 2018 plus races in Northern California as well as nationally. Now we start to slip into the Rerun Zone until after the New Year. CARS: Reno Cars and Coffee will have its third weekend of the month from 10 a.m. until noon this Sunday. MRANN ENDS SEASON AT NIGHTINGALE
NIGHTINGALE, NV (Nov. 11) – MRANN, Motorcycle Racing Association of Northern Nevada, ended its 2018 season east of Fernley off the I-80 Nightingale exit. The Tank Slappers hosted the event under nice but cool weather. The pits are located where the old U.S. 40 pavement ends east of the off ramp. As everyone registered they were given a sticker to put on their number plates. It honored the memory of Bob “Moto Mouth,” Cavakis, a long time announcer at these events. AWARDS BANQUET: NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB
RENO, NV (Nov. 9) – The Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) held its annual awards banquet at the Boomtown Hotel and Casino. Entering the room there was a historical display of photographs, trophies from years gone by and past championship jackets. Another tradition is a cake with the NNKC logo on it. That waited until later in the evening when it was time for desert. ANDY STRAIT – TRIPLE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON
RENO, NV (Nov. 5) – It’s been a fantastic season for Andy Strait as he did something most drivers only dream about. Most would just to like to win one championship but this year earned three of them. Living in Spring Valley, a suburb of Elko, he and his wife Nicole have traveled many miles this year going to various racetracks. “We won the track championship at Rattlesnake Raceway and we won the track championship at Battle Mountain Raceway,” he said.
