RENO, NV (Oct. 6) – Racing preview for this week still has some cruise events, oval track racing and major league races. Summer is over, fall is in the air and things are starting to shut down for the off-season.
+ CRUISE/SHOW N’ SHINES:
- The Fernley Klazzic Kruizers 3rd annual Gunslinger Kruize begins Friday at 4 p.m. and at 10 a.m. Sunday. There may be something on Saturday as well.

- Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m., Hot August Nights has its Fall Frenzy in the parking lot at Baldini’s Casino. Should be a good show.
• Reno Cars and Coffee gets Sunday off to a start at 10 a.m. with the first weekend meet at the Kietzke Starbucks.

+ RACING (REGIONAL):
- Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon stages the annual Dirt Track Championships this weekend. It’s a two-day show featuring many classes of cars as well as the Outlaw Karts.
On Saturday the featured guests will be the Nevada Pro Stock Association’s season ending race where the 2018 champion will be crowned.
Gates open at 11:30 Saturday and the Outlaw Karts begin their heat races at noon and some of their finals will be run during intermission. The cars will begin their program at 5 p.m. and continue until done.
Sunday begins at 9:30 a.m. when the gates open, Outlaw Karts start their heats at 10 a.m. and the cars begin their program at 1 p.m.
• The Northern Nevada Kart Club end its 2018 season Sunday at Desert Park Raceway. The action should get going around 10 a.m. and at day’s end all the championships will be sewn up.

• Over the hill, in Northern California three motocross tracks will be open for practice.
Riverfront has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday and then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday. E Street MX park has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Prairie City Arenacross track has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Saturday.
+ RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL)
• Thursday is pretty slim but at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR America. The day is a good one for catching up with missed races either on www.MAVTV.com or on www.youtube.com.
Over on www.motortrendondemand.com at 7:30 p.m. they will stream round 9 of the Audi R8 LMS cup from Shanghai. Then at 10:45 p.m. they’ll show Virgin Australia Supercars qualifying from the Bathurst 100.
• Friday begins at 8 a.m. on NBC Sports with NASCAR Cup practice followed by Xfinity Series practice from the Monster Mile at Dover.
At 12:40 the NASCAR Cup drivers qualify for Sunday’s race.
This week Formula One is in Japan the their qualifying session begins at 8 a.m. on ESPN 2.
Over on Fox Sports 1 at 10:30 a.m. there will be Friday Nitro Live from the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals.
Back to motortrendondemand at 12:05 a.m. when they stream Virgin Australia Supercars – Top 10 Shootout. Then at 5 p.m. the Bathurst will be shown.
This is a classic race mainly run on roads that go up a mountain and back down. As the longest race of their season the broadcast is slated to run until 1 a.m.
• NBC Sports at 8 a.m. gets Saturday rolling with Cup practice followed at 9:05 by Xfinity qualifying then at noon the network airs the Xfinity race from Dover.
Over on Fox Sports 2 at 2:30 p.m. there will be NHRA Saturday Nitro Live. The day ends on ESPN 2 with the Grand Prix of Japan for the Formula One series.
• On the Internet at www.fanschoice.tv, at 11:45 they will stream the American Flat Track event from Meadowlands Mile. Then at 4 p.m. a race from Langley Speedway will be streamed.
• Switching back to TV Land Sunday begins at 11 a.m. with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup event from the Monster Mile at Dover.
At that same time Fox Sports 1 will bring live coverage of the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals. As the countdown continues drivers and teams will try to improve their point positions and avoid being eliminated.
CBS Sports will also have several racing programs on Sunday.
Starting at 9 a.m. there is an FIA World Rallycross event followed by Mobil 1 The Grid show.
This weekend is when the FIM Motocross of Nations event is being held at the Redbud course and coverage is on a Same Day Delayed basis.
The first round is at 10 a.m. followed at 11:30 a.m. by another round and the final round is at 1 p.m. The day ends at 2 p.m. as the network airs an American Rallycross Championship event.
