RENO, NV (Aug 22) – This week’s Racing Preview still have some options for those into cruising as well as local racing and what can be seen on TV and the Internet.
CRUISE/Show N’ Shines:
• Summit Racing in Sparks has another of its Friday evening Cruise In’s but now they start at 5 p.m. and end by 8 as its getting dark early.
• For those interested in a road trip the Burners Car Show in Battle Mountain is on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Elquist Park.
• Closer to home Carson Cars & Coffee has a meet Sunday starting at 11 a.m. The location is Dutch Brothers Coffee located at 1231 South Carson Street.
• A great way to wind down the weekend is at the DooWop@Doughboys from 5 until 9 p.m. Sunday. The place is located near the south WalMart.
RACING (LOCAL AND REGIONAL):
• NOTICE: Friday’s scheduled race at Fernley 95A Speedway has been canceled.
• Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday will have the car classes, mud drags and the Nevada Pro Stock Association racing.
• Down in Feather River Country the American Valley Speedway in Quincy, starting at 7 p.m. will host another of its point’s races.
- The biggest race of the weekend is Saturday in Carson City at Fuji Park. While there is amateur racing that afternoon the spectator gates open at 6 p.m., opening ceremonies at 7 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
Several pros will be racing for a large purse in what is called the Duce for additional money. It’s a fast and furious night of two-wheeled action in the rodeo arena, flat track racing at its best.
• The practice times for the Northern California track are as follows;
+ Prairie City has practice Friday from 5 until 10 p.m. then on Saturday there is the next round of the PCAX in the Arenacross track.
+ Riverside MX has practice Thursday from 5 until 10 p.m. then from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday.
+ E Street MX Park has practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• Not much on TV for Thursday however there are two Internet sites that have past races one might want to watch.
One of them is www.racer.tv while the other one is Fans Choice especially if you like AMA Flat Track and TT racing.
Both offer a chance to catch up on races that might have been missed. For NASCAR and Indy Car events a good place to check is www.youtube.com.
• Friday starts early at 1:55 a.m. when ESPN 2 has Formula 1 practice from Spa then follows that at 5:55 a.m. on ESPN U with another practice session.
At 11:35 a.m.the NBC Sports app has Xfinity Series practices from Road America starting. Then at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has Indy Car qualifying from Gateway.
• Saturday starts at 2 a.m. on ESPN2 with more Formula 1 practice followed at 5:55 a.m. as drivers qualify.
This weekend the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross outdoor series winds up its season at Crawfordsville, Indian. Once again coverage is split with the first motos shown at 11 a.m. on MATV but the second motos won’t be shown until Sunday.
Over on NBC Sports at noon the Xfinity race from Road America will be broadcast followed at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 2 with the Camping World Truck Series qualifying up in Canada.
Finally at 5:30 p.m. NBC Sports broadcasts the Indy Car race from Gateway.
Over on the Internet starting at 3:30 p.m. www.fanschoice.tv starts streaming races from series of short tracks. The marathon begins at Berlin Raceway the switched to Meridian Speedway and ends at 4 p.m. with an event from Langley Speedway.
Finally at 7 p.m. a race from Tucson Speedway will be streamed.
• Switching back to TV Land Sunday starts at 6 a.m. as ESPN 2 airs the Formula Race from Spa, Belgium. The race is repeated at 5 p.m. on ESPN News.
Then at 11:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck race from Canada while at noon NBC Sports has the second motos from the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross event.
Over at CBS Sports starting at noon there is a World Challenge event followed by the repeat of a Trans-Am race.
