RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 14 TO 17

RENO, NV (June 13) – It’s another full Racing Preview this week and I’m adding a new section. Here in Northwest Nevada it’s the season of the Cruise so I’ll be previewing those.

First however I’ll turn the spotlight on local racing then follow with the other things.

Lovelock Speedway gets the weekend’s racing started at 7 p.m. Friday.

Rattlesnake Raceway will be in action this Saturday evening. This weekend they introduce the new Outlaw Kart track inside the big oval.

Starting time for the kart mains is 3 p.m. while racing on the main track is supposed to start at 6 p.m. with all the car classes present.

Tonopah Speedway, starting at 7 p.m. will also have racing Saturday evening.

MRANN

To the north of Reno, at the Honey Lake track, MRANN has its traditional Father’s Day weekend event, the Cory Herring Memorial races. It’s the European Scrambles or “Go Big or Go Home,” event.

Saturday begins with the Pee Wee race at 9 a.m. followed by the Women, Bombers and Vintage bikes then the Mini Bike racers.

At this track all three big bike races are run separately on Sunday. The Novice race begins at 8 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. by the Amateurs then at 12:30 p.m. the experts begin their two-hour race.

Over the hill three motocross tracks will have practice sessions.

E Street MX Park from 9 until 2 p.m. has sessions Saturday and Sunday on both tracks. Riverfront has practice today, Thursday, from 5 until 10 p.m. and from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Prairie City has practice today from 9 until 2 p.m. then at those same times Saturday and Sunday.

This schedule is valid through July 1.

+ CRUISE SCHEDULE +

Thursday’s cruise in Carson City begins at 5 p.m. and runs until 7:30 p.m. This week’s meeting place is Johnny Rockets at 4600 Snyder.

On Friday starting at 6 p.m. Summit Racing in Sparks hosts another Cruise In, actually a show n’ shine in its west parking lot.

The Bonanza Casino, located on North Virginia Street in Reno, hosts its 18th annual Show N’ Shine from 10 until 4 p.m. Saturday.

Then on Sunday, from 10 a.m. until noon Reno Cars & Coffee hosts another of its meets at the Starbucks on Robb Drive..

That same day south of Reno Dough Boys hosts a Doo Hop cruise from 5:30 until 9 p.m. at 57 Damonte Ranch Parkway.

Now over to TV and Internet Land.

Thursday begins at 2 p.m. when NBC Sports broadcasts NASCAR America followed at 5 p.m. on Fox Sports 2 with NHRA in 30.

Not much on Friday but at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Nitro Live from Thunder Valley.

24 Hours of Le Mans

Early Saturday morning is when the 24 Hours of Le Mans begins.

Saturday begins at 5 a.m. when the Velocity Channel starts coverage of the 24 Hours of LeMans. This classic race races into and through the night to wind up after going twice around the clock.

This week the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series is at Mt. Morris and once again there is split coverage of the event.

The first motos are aired on www.mavtv.com beginning at 10 a.m. then at noon NBC has the second 450 moto followed at 1 p.m. on NBC Sports with the second 250 moto.

Fox Sports 1 starting at 4 p.m. has the Camping World Truck Series from Iowa and at 6 p.m. the network has NHRA qualifying.

Over at www.fanschoice.tv there are several events streamed on Saturday.

Starting at 1:30 p.m. American Flat Track broadcasts the OKC Mile presented by Indian Motorcyle.

Then at 3:30 p.m. three tracks have races streamed and they are Berlin Raceway, Langley Speedway and Meridan Speedway.

Back to TV and at 9 p.m. Velocity comes back continues coverag of the 24 Hours of Lemans until 6:30 a.m. our time.

NASCAR Xfinity Series

While the NASCAR Cup teams get a weekend off the Xfinity and Camping World Truck series are racing in Iowa this weekend.

On Sunday at 2 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Xfinity Series race from Iowa, this week the NASCAR Cup teams are off. Then at 4:30 p.m. the network has the final rounds of the Thunder Valley Nationals from Bristol, Tennessee.

That’s it for this week. If you have a chance to get out to see one of the events live as there is nothing like it, no matter if you’re enjoying live racing or at one of the Show N’ Shines.
