ENDUROFEST VISITS WILD WEST MOTORSPORTS PARK

SPARKS, NV (May 6) – Promoter Matt Musgrove brought his Endurofest back to Wild West Motorsports Park this weekend. Unlike previous editions this one had a bonus for the rider that scored the most points in four events.

Sunday began with a Junior Enduro for the youngest riders and Caleb Bonneville won that event. The event was 45-minutes long with obstacles designed with the younger riders in mind.

Bonneville was able to complete 13 laps while second place Chris Newell only had 12 and third place C.J. Conder only got in 10-laps.

Later the course workers were briefed by Musgrove then spread out to their positions. Then the Pro and Sportsmen riders were lined up in their separate groups.

After the start the riders had to negotiate a field of small boulders, then logs and tires before making a 180-degree turn to the left. From there they roared across the infield and on to the rock fact.

Once they made their way to the top he course turned right then led them down the sand part of the hill climb course. From there the pros had a difficult uphill section before disappearing onto the long course.

The course itself was broken into three sections, Bronze, Silver and Gold. While it was thought running the full course might take up to three hours the top pros had other ideas and the winner made it 37 minutes, 33 seconds.

After his win Hart, who came in from British Colombia, Canada said, “It was 17 hours, left at 5 in the morning and got here at nine at night. It was a hard course, I didn’t realize that we did in about 40-minutes, it felt like two hours maybe. The last section up the gully was really hard and the ridge with the slippery rocks, you just kept falling every time you tried to go.”

Sunday’s winner Trystan Hart heads down the sand hill soon after the start.

Then he thanked Team SRT, Husqvarna Motorcycles, Motoul, O’Niell, IMS, Evans Coolant and his father.

Second place rider Kyle Redmond had an elapsed time of 39 minutes while the time was 45:33 for third place Cory Graffunder. So when Sunday’s event came to a close it was a sweep for Team SRT of the top three positions

Team SRT scored first through third in Sunday’s race.

For Hart it capped a successful weekend as he also was at the top for Saturday’s Hellclimb and Enduroclimb as well as winning the Prologue, although that ended with a three-way tie. So he got the $2,000 bonus on top of the money had had already earned.

After a brief pause the Sportsmen were turned loose to race over the same obstacles the Pros faced at first. However when they reached the rock face things kind of went south.

There was a huge traffic jam going up that face as riders struggled to make some headway while surrounded by traffic. Finally riders started to reach the top and make their way over and down the sand hill so they could get back on course.

Soon after their start the Sportsmen ran into a huge traffic jam while going up the rock face.

There was a 3-hour time limit so riders had a cut off point depending where they were. Only five Sportsman completed the full course while all the rest, including the only Pro Woman were stopped at the end of the Silver course.

Winning the Sportsman class was Jesse Keierleber with a time of 1 hour, 32 minutes.

After an hour and 32 minutes Jesse Keierleber heads for the finish and victory in his class.

After reaching the finish he said, “It’s pretty tough, lot of loose rocks, just loose, loose you can’t trust a boulder out here. Had to wait for a couple of guys at the start but that was about it.”

Then he thanked Ride JBI for the suspension, Nitro Moose, Emperor Racing from Canada for, ‘some nice skid plates and radiator guards,’ and his wife Sarah.

Before a rider arrived at the IRC Tire arch where the finish line was they had to go through the obstacles they faced at the start as well as some more tires and K-rails that racers had to go over. Most made it in one try but for some it took a couple of attempts.

All the finishers seemed pleased they survived this tough course and the weather was almost perfect.

Every year promoter Musgrove tunes and works to make every event better than the last.

When asked about this one he said, “Endurofest is a new concept brought by IRC Tire and Elevated Action Sports to combine different events, to see who the overall best and versatile rider is. This weekend it Trystan Hart from SRT Off Road and close behind were Kyle Redmond and Cory Graffunder.

“We learned a lot of things this year that we want to fix, expand upon, this year was kind of a trial run. We wanted to see what people’s reactions were. We had the coolest hill climb experience we’ve all had in a while yesterday, it was really old school and gnarly. I think we’ll definitely be back build some new partnerships with people and see what happens.”
