RACING PREVIEW: MAY 3 TO 6

RENO, NV (May 2) – This weeks Racing Preview is another banquet of events, something for almost every kind of race fan. One can either see it live or watch one of the races either on TV or the Internet.

Dwarf Cars.

Dave Richardson & LeRoy Kay Memorial race is also a Western States Dwarf Car National event.

The weekend in our area gets rolling with the Dave Richardson & Leroy Kay Memorial Race. It’s dedicated to a pair of Dwarf Car driver lost a few years ago.

The site is American Valley Speedway in Quincy, California. Hot laps begin at 6 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday the Lovelock Speedway hosts its next race and the start time has been moved to 5 p.m. On Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. the Winnemucca Regional Speedway will be in action.

Wild West Motorsports Park.

There is another two-day event this weekend at the Wild West Motorsports Park, the Endurofest 2018. Saturday has an Endurofest type of race followed by two different types of hill climbs.

Sunday starts with a Junior Hard Enduro on a course set up for the younger riders from 7- to 15-years-old. This is followed by a three hour Hard Enduro for older riders.For further information please check the website at www.elevatedaction.com/endurofest.

Battle Born MX stages the next round of their Spring Motocross series at Fernley this weekend. Saturday is for practice while racing should begin around 9 a.m. Sunday.

Down in Southern Nevada the Best In The Desert series will run the VT Construction Silver State 300 north of Alamo. The events runs from May third to sixth and for further information please check the website at, www.bitd.com.

Over the hill, in Northern California, schedules for the three motocross tracks is set. One of them Prairie City will be closed until the upcoming Hangtown event.

E Street MX Park will have practice sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both the front and back tracks will be open.

Riverfront MX track has practice from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday. Saturday is a ride day for the Sierra Old Timers and practice resumes from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Another event is at the Calistoga Half Mile as the American Flat Track series races there Saturday.

Finally for this area there are two low-key events for car lovers.

The first is the 2nd Annual Cruisin’ Memory Lane Car Show from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.Saturday. It’s at a senior care center since many times those people are unable to attend car shows so if you have a nice one please try and attend.

Next up on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. is the meet for Reno Cars and Coffee. As usual for the first meet of the month its held at the Kietzke Starbucks.

Now onto TV Land and the Internet.

Thursday is pretty slim but Fox Sports 1 will have NASCAR Race Hub on at 3 p.m.

This weekend NASCAR has a triple-header from the Monster Mile at Dover International Speedway.

Friday gets an early start as Fox Sports 1 at 6:35 a.m. begins with Xfinity, Cup and Truck practice. Then at 12:20 the NASCAR Cup drivers qualify for Sunday race followed at 3 p.m. by the Camping World Truck Series event.

Finally at 4:30 p.m., also on Fox Sports 1, the NHRA has Friday Night Nitro from Atlanta.

Fox Sports 1 gets Saturday going with Xfinity qualifying from over at 7:35 a.m. then broadcasts the race starting at 10:30. Later that evening at 7 p.m. the network airs the final race of this year’s AMA Supercross season from Las Vegas

Over on the Internet, www.fanschoice.tv also has racing to stream.

Starting at 8:55 a.m. Saturday they’ll show qualifying from the IMSA event plus a GT3 race from Mi-Ohio. Then at 2 p.m. the network streams the American Flat Track race from the Calistoga Half Mile.

Finally, starting at 3:30 p.m. the Cinco de Mayo Festival from Berlin Raceway will be streamed followed by a race from Langley Speedway.

NASCAR CUP

NASCAR’s triple header this weekend at Dover ends with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race on Sunday.

Once again Fox Sports 1 is doing the heavy lifting for Sunday. At 11:00 a.m. the network shows the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from the Monster Mile at Dover.

Earlier, at 8:30 a.m. there will be qualifying from the NHRA Southern Nationals followed at 3 p.m. by the final rounds.

Fox Sports 2 is also busy as starting at 10 a.m. they’ll broadcast the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car race from the Mid-Ohio road course.

That’s it for this very busy weekend. If possible do try and get out to see a race live; there is nothing like it for speed, color and excitement.
