RACING PREVIEW: APRIL 19 TO 22

RENO, NV (April 18) – This week’s Racing Preview is full of events both locally, in Northern California as well as a stew of races in TV Land and others streamed on the Internet.

Wild West Motorsports Park

Saturday begins at Wild West Motorsports Park with the annual visit by NorCal Rock Racing, formerly VORRA. Gates open at 10 a.m. and it’s going to be a day of action packed off-road racing.

That same afternoon at 2 p.m. Lovelock Speedway kicks off its 2018 season on that bullring.

To the north Diamond Mountain Speedway was supposed to start their 2018 season but canceled it due to the track being too wet.

Down in Feather River Country the American Valley Speedway gets its season going with the four car classes and Dwarf Cars. As usual hot laps begin at 6 p.m. with a 7 p.m. start to the racing.

There are also a few Sunday only events and one of them begins at 1 p.m. when Winnemucca Regional Speedway finally gets its 2018 season going after the opener was rained out.

If something slower is your ticket Carson Cars and Coffee will have a meet at the Dutch Brothers Coffee located at 1231 S. Carson Street starting at noon. The event is being called, “#60 Cars, Trucks, Bikes, Mopeds, Dogs an Coffee,” so there should be a variety of things to see.

A pair of motorcycle series are having two-day events this weekend.

MRANN

MRANN racers are competing in the No Bull 100 at Blue Wing Flat, Nevada. Hosting the event is the Cheaters Motorcycle Club and the location is outside of Toulon.

Saturday begins at 9:30 a.m. when the Pee Wees race followed by the combined V-Women, Mini Bike, Bomber and Vintage classes followed by the popular Team race. Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. the big bikes tackle the long 50-mile course and to be classed as a finisher a rider must finish one of the two loops.

Over the hill the big race is at Prairie City where a Mammoth Qualifier will be run. Friday is for practice while racing for the various classes is on Saturday and Sunday.

As far as E Street MX Park and Riverfront the best advice is to check the hotline at 1-775-265-7223. Both tracks will probably have practice sessions this weekend.

Over on TV Land there are two NASCAR shows on Thursday. Both start at 3 p.m. as NBC Sports has NASCAR America while Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub, which is repeated Friday.

Friday begins at 6:40 a.m. as Fox Sports begins with Xfinity practice from Richmond followed by NASCAR Cup practice then after Xfinity qualifying at 1:05 p.m. there will be Cup qualifying starting at 4 p.m. Finally the Xfinity series will run the Toyota Cars 250 starting at 4 p.m.

Then at 6:30 p.m. the network will air NHRA qualifying from Texas.

ASA Supercross

FOX gets Saturday rolling at noon with AMA Supercross from Foxborough, where the Patriots play in the fall. Then at 3 p.m. the network airs the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race, the Toyota Owners 400, from Richmond.

Over on the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has several events that its streaming this weekend.

Saturday starts at 9:50 a.m. with the Porsche GT3 race #1 from Barber Motorsports Park, following that at 10 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. will be GNCC racing from Society Hill, South Carolina. Then at 2:35 p.m. there is the IMSA Prototype Challenge from Barber and at 3:30 p.m. the Ice Breaker race from Berlin Raceway.

NHRA

Back to TV Land where Sunday begins at 11 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Spring Nationals from Texas. Then at 12:30 p.m. NBC Sports has the Grand Prix of Alabama from Barbor Motorsports Park, the first natural road course the series is races on this season.

Over on the Internet Fans Choice has the Porsche GT3 race #2 at 6:45 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. by another GNCC race from the Society Hill oval track.

That’s it for this very busy weekend of racing. If you have a chance be sure to get out to a live event.

There is nothing that beats the excitement, action, color and sounds of seeing racing live.
