RACING PREVIEW: FEB 1 TO 4

RENO, NV (January 31) – Racing preview for this week has a mix of a local event, the Re-Run Zone and some great races for the two-wheeled fans. Spring is in the air and so is more racing.

Locally Reno Cars and Coffee will have the first of their two monthly scheduled show n’ shines that ends with some cruising. Great time to come out, see the cars and view what their owners have done to them.

Over the hill E Street MX Park will have practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has practice Thursday from 4 until 9 p.m.

The big event this week will be at Prairie City. On Thursday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. there is open practice and Friday there is a Sierra Old Timers practice session from 9 until 2 p.m. and camping is open from 5 p.m.

Gold Cup series schedule.

Third round of the Gold Cup series will be this weekend and on Saturday gates open at 8 a.m. with practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday gates open at 6:30 a.m., practice begins at 8 a.m. with racing to follow.

There is a silent auction being held to help a fallen rider’s memory and at noon there will be a parade lap in his honor.

Not far away, on Saturday evening the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series will be visiting Oakland. And the course is different than they raced on last weekend.

To the south it time for King of the Hammers and Hammer Town opens Friday. This event is like Burning Man for Gear Heads and will bring at least 60,000 people, and maybe more that camp in the desert at Johnson Valley for at week.

Both the Internet and TV land has a bunch of racing although most of the latter is in the Re-Run Zone.

Thursday at noon NBC Sports has the Motorsport Hour, over on www.mavtv.com they begin at noon with a series of shows beginning with Dirty 30. This is followed by Super Cup Stock Car Series, Lucas Oil Drag Boat racing, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Speed Sport and ends with Madera Racing.

Things are very slim on either TV or the Internet. Good time to check with either www.youtube.com or www.fanschoice.tv for races you might have missed and want to see.

Down in Hammer Town there will be tech inspections as well as classes getting a chance to pre-run the courses.

Saturday begins at noon on mavtv as they have more races starting with Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday Night Racing followed by Terra Cross and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

Over on Ultra4racing the 4600/UTV class qualifies and at 3 p.m. they should stream the first race in the King of the Motos.

Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. has a Formula E race from Santiago followed at 4 p.m. by the Oakland round of Supercross.

Sunday begins early as Ultra4racing at 9 a.m. has the second King of the Motos race followed by the third race at 11 a.m. If you think Endurocross is tough wait until you see this event as they race across rocks and boulders. Only the toughest survive this event.

Over on mavtv they get things going at noon with Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League and ends with Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

Not to be left out Fox Sports 1 has Arenacross from Wilke-Barre, Pa followed at noon by Monster Jam from Orlando and at noon they replay the Supercross round from Oakland

CBS Sports also has two shows starting at 3 p.m. with Off-Road Racing followed by a Pro Pulling League event.

Once again remember this week racing continues at Hammer Town through Friday so please consult the schedule at the end of this article.
