RENO, NV (Dec. 19) – This week’s Racing Preview shows that we are well and truly deep into the Re-Run Zone and in our immediate region nothing is happening.
So this is the time for us here at nvracingnews to wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We also want to give thanks for our great sponsors that keep this site running.
There will be some action for the two-wheeled set as three Northern California track have practice sessions right into Christmas Eve. And with some luck the weather should be nice but maybe on the cool side.
Prairie City will have practice from 1 until 5 p.m. Thursday and Riverfront will also have sessions from 4 until 9 p.m. that same day. Riverfront also has a practice session from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday.
E Street MX Park has practice sessions on both tracks from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Prairie City also has practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Even though it’s a week away for oval track fans Antioch Speedway hosts its Winter Classic races on New Years day. Be sure to plan ahead if you want to see some dirt track racing to start the New Year.
Now we switch to TV Land and the Internet.
Thursday begins at noon when NBC Sports airs two episodes of Nitro Circus All Access.
Over on www.mavtv.com they start streaming at noon with several events beginning with Dirty 30 and followed by Super Cup Stock Car Series, Lucas Oil Drag Boats, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Madera Racing.
On Friday Fox Sports 1 at 11:30 a.m. has NASCAR Race Hub; Best of Race Hub
However one can see more racing over on www.fanschoice.tv as they have many videos of events from this year that can be seen. Also www.youtube.com has NASCAR and Indy Car races from this past season.
Mavtv has several programs on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. with Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Motocross championships. Following that is two hours of Pro Motocross Championship racing and then two hours of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events
The day ends with Lucas Oil Saturday Night racing followed by ASCS Sprint Car action.
Earlier that afternoon, at 2 p.m., NBC Sports has two hours of the Motor Sports Hour show.
Sunday is actually a busy day both on TV and over the Internet.
Mavtv gets things rolling at 11 a.m. with the Lucas Oil Off Road series followed by Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League and finally more Lucas Oil Off Road racing.
Over on CBS Sports they get their Sunday going at 10 a.m. with the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series followed at 11 a.m. with more from this year’s SCCA Run Offs. Then at noon the network airs this year’s Supercross from Detroit.

- On a sad note for NASCAR fans, former crew chief Barry Dodson passed away at age 64 this week. He was the crew chief that helped Rusty Wallace win his only Winston Cup championship.
• Since next week’s feature might not be until Tuesday this reporter will be on Teresa’s Garage Radio Show that afternoon. The show runs from 2 until 3 p.m. and I’m usually on around 2:15.
