RENO (Sept 6) – Racing preview for this week is a varied menu even though the season her and else where is winding down. There are live events as well as much to view on TV and the Internet.
The weekend kicks off at the Battle Mountain Raceway as the track hosts its annual Silver Kart Classic Friday and Saturday. This is probably the biggest Outlaw Kart show in Northern Nevada and drivers from California, Oregon, Nevada and Idaho are expected.
On Saturday Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon is having Tribune to 911 honoring all military and first responders. There will be a flag ceremony at 5:30 p.m. with racing starting at 6 and six classes will be competing that night including the Nevada Pro Stock Association.
There are also racing going on in California including the latest KPX karting round at the Sonoma Speedway.
For the motocross set the MMX track in Marysville is hosting its third round of the Saturday Night series. Not far away in Dixon the final round of the Summer Challenge series will be at Argyll MX Park
Those wishing to practice have three tracks to chose from.
Prairie City is open Thursday from 3 until 7 p.m. then from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront will have sessions from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday and Saturday while E Street MX Park on Saturday and Sunday has sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and both tracks will be open.
We here at nvracingnews extend our best wishes for success to all our area drivers and motocross riders competing at these events.
Over in TV Land there is a varied bunch of racing to view.
NBC Sports gets Thursday afternoon rolling at 2 p.m. with NASCAR America then Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. has NASCAR Race Hub.
NBC Sports continues at 4 p.m. with Pro Series East then, new starting this week, will air an American Flat Track Series race at 7 p.m. from the Rolling Hills Half-Mile.
This weekend NASCAR ends its regular season before the Play Offs begin and two races will be held at Richmond to determine the roster of drivers in each series play offs.
On Friday NBC Sports begins at 1 p.m. with Xfinity qualifying followed at 2:30 p.m. with NASCAR Cup qualifying. Then the network will air, starting at 4 p.m. the Xfinity race.
Saturday begins on the BeInSports network (Some of you might have it on your cable network.) at 11 a.m. will have a Moto America race from New Jersey.
Then at 1:30 p.m. NBC has the Global Rally event from Seattle and finally at 4:30 p.m. NBC Sports will have the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Richmond.
REPORTER’S NOTE: Last week You Tube had the Cup race from Darlington live but don’t know if they will do the same for the Richmond race. However you can watch the event, delayed of course, about a day or two later on www.youtube.com.
Over on the Internet, www.fanschoice.tv has several races on Saturday.
Starting at 7 a.m. it’s the Unadilla MX from New Berlin, New York followed at 8 a.m. by the American Flat Track race from Williams Grove half-mile.
Then starting at 4:30 p.m. they have two short track races starting with Myrtle Beach and the Salina High Banks.
CBS Sports begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m. with a DTM race from Nurburgring and at 12:30 p.m. airs a World Challenge event. Then at 1:30 p.m. NBC has more Global Rallycross from Seattle.
Fanschoice.tv has two events to stream on Sunday starting at 7 a.m. with more action from the Unadilla MX followed at 10 a.m. with a NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series race.
That’s it for this weekend but as usually I’d recommend getting out and seeing a race live. There is nothing like the excitement, speed and color of a live event not to mention the scent of power.
