RENO (July 5) – Now that the 4th of July is over racing is ramping up again as there are local and regional events this weekend. And the TV has a varied schedule as does the Internet.
Locally three area tracks will be in action Saturday night.
To the east Lovelock Speedway hosts another points race starting at 7 p.m. and about that same time to the north in Susanville, California there are more races at Diamond Mountain Speedway.
Rattlesnake Raceway will host a special event this weekend as it’s an all Mad Metal show, probably beginning at 6 p.m. This time it’s mud drag racing, which can get pretty wild at times.
For motocross riders and racers there are three tracks open this weekend.
The next race in the Prairie City summer series is this Saturday. After a 4 to 8 p.m. practice session Thursday gates opens Saturday at 8 a.m. with practice starting at 10 a.m. and racing to follow that.
The E Street MX Park has practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on both the front and back track. Riverfront has three evening practice sessions from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Over in TV land as well as on the Internet there are a variety of events to choose from.
Thursday begins at 11 a.m. with practice sessions from Kentucky as that’s what the three NASCAR series are visiting this weekend. Then at 4:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the Camping World Truck series race.
On Friday at 7 a.m. NBC Sports has Cup qualifying then returns at 5 p.m. to show the Xfinity race from Kentucky.
Things get real busy and start early on Saturday.
NBC Sports begins the day at 5 a.m. with Formula 1 qualifying from Austria.
This week the Pro Motocross series is at Southwick an MAVTV airs the first motos starting at 10 a.m. then NBC at 12:30 p.m. shows the second 450 moto.
Fox Sports 1 at 2 p.m. has NHRA qualifying from Joliet and at 4:30 p.m. NBC Sports has the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Kentucky. The day ends on MAVTV at 6 p.m. as that networks airs the ARCA race from Iowa.
Over on www.fanschoice.tv there will be several events streamed starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the American Flat Track race from Rolling Hills Half-Mile.
Then at 3:30 p.m. several events will be streamed starting with Berlin Raceway followed by races from Langeley speedway, Myrtle Beach Speedway, Salina High Banks, Magic Valley Speedway and ending with Evergreen Speedway.
Sunday begins early on at 4:30 a.m. on CNBC with the Formula 1 race from Austria then at 11 a.m. NBC Sports repeats the show on a delayed basis.
At 9:30 a.m. NBC Sports will show the 2nd 250 moto from this week’s Pro Motocross series.
At noon Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA event from Joliet followed by NBC Sports showing the Indy Car race from Iowa.
That’s it for this weekend, a varied menu for the race fan. Once again I’d encourage you to get out and attend a live event as there is nothing like it for speed an excitement.
