FERNLEY (July 29 – After being dark since last fall the Fernley 95A Speedway came alive this weekend. The event was round 10 of the Sprint Car Challenge, which usually races in the Northern California region. Not only did the event attract what may have been the largest crowd of fans to the track and 27 sprint car teams as well as five Midgets from the Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA) were on hand. RENO (July 26) – Racing preview has another busy weekend with a major event coming to our area this weekend. Over in California there will be two motocross events as well as others nationally and internationally Fernley 95A Speedway has the biggest local event this weekend as the Sprint Car Challenge is coming Saturday with festivities, including a bike give away for the kids. AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: TWO-DAY SHOW
QUINCY, CALIF (JULY 22) – The American Valley Speedway had a two-day show one week after the Pro Stocks visited. Saturday was a night of some hard racing, with more cars than usual and a wild IMCA feature. One reason was that Lovelock cancelled its race so several of those planning on racing there made the tow to Quincy and raced here. STEAD (July 23) – Desert Park Raceway was alive this Sunday as the Northern Kart Club held its latest points. Although attendance was down a bit those present put on some good races and there was even a special race between two different shifter karts. AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: NPSA’S SECOND VISIT
QUINCY, CALIFORNIA (July 15) – American Valley Speedway hosted the second visit this season of the Nevada Pro Stock Association (NPSA). These speedsters rounded out a show that included all four of the regular classes. While the Pro Stocks were the stars of the show it was the IMCA Modifieds that put on the race of the night. RENO (July 13) – Racing Preview for this weekend is another buffet of varied treats for racing fans. This not only includes events in our region but some in California as well as those on TV and streamed across the Internet. Oval track fans have two events to choose from on Saturday. To the east Rattlesnake Raceway, starting at 6 p.m. has the cars and Outlaw Karts, that start early in the afternoon. LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY: POINTS RACE #4
Lovelock (July 8) – Lovelock Speedway hosts its latest points race on a hot day with thunderstorms in the area. But this time Mother Nature smiled on the track, well except for just a bit. And the racing card had four divisions this night. After winning the 360 Sprint Car main a somewhat tired Bob Cooney said, “It was long for an old guy. RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY 4TH OF JULY RACES
FALLON (July 4) – Rattlesnake Speedway hosted its traditional Independence Day races as well as the town’s fireworks show. It was an evening with fireworks on the ground as well as in the sky. The Mod Mini division put on the race of the night. When the green waved Suzi Schmidt was on point with Steve Singley giving chase. Things changed when Schmidt spun out of the lead in Turn 4. RENO (July 5) – Now that the 4th of July is over racing is ramping up again as there are local and regional events this weekend. And the TV has a varied schedule as does the Internet. Locally three area tracks will be in action Saturday night. To the east Lovelock Speedway hosts another points race starting at 7 p.m. and about that same time to the north in Susanville, California there are more races at Diamond Mountain Speedway. Despite the heat there was a pretty good go kart race on Sunday. STEAD (JULY 2) – Desert Park Raceway was alive with go kart racing just one week after the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosted the KPX series.
