Racing preview for this week has three two-day events in our region plus events across the country and overseas. Just about any race fan can find something they will like.
First and foremost, Lovelock Speedway has canceled its opening night schedule for this Saturday. The reason is that Winnemucca Regional Raceway is starting their season with a double header.
The events sponsor Motel T Hotel and Casino even has rates for those going out there. Gates open at 10 a.m. with racing beginning at noon Saturday and Sunday.
As an added incentive Saturday’s IMCA race is $500 to win while Sunday’s is a $1,000 to win.
Of course this event will depend on the incoming weather.
At that same time, and right next door, Battle Born MX with the local club is hosting the third round of the spring Motocross season. Practice is on Saturday with a probable 9 a.m. start to Sunday’s racing.
The racers in the MRANN series will face off outside of Doyle, California, as the Lassen M/C hosts the 50th Diamond Backs Hare Scrambles. The event is held at the Fort Sage OHV area.
Saturday begins at 9:15 a.m. with the Pee Wee race followed by the V-Women, Mini Bikes, Bombers with the final event, the popular Team Race, starting at 1 p.m.
The big bike race starts at 10 a.m. Sunday as riders tackle a 33-mile loop. To be considered a finisher a riders has to complete two of the loops.
Zeb Armstrong, who operates the Prairie City MX course as well as the E Street MX and Riverfront MX Park will update what’s going on Friday. Right now he is waiting to see what the incoming storm does.
So best advice is if a rider wants to go over the hill to practice call the hotline, 775-265-7223 on Friday.
Over in TV land there are a bunch of events to watch and CBS Sports carries Thursday with several events starting at 11:30 a.m. with Super Karts from Sonoma. Following that is a Stadium Truck race then the Blancpain GT Sprint series and finally at 8 p.m. with another Stadium race.
This week the top two NASCAR series are at Texas and Friday begins on Fox Sports 1 as that network starts airing practice sessions beginning at 9 a.m. and will end with Cup qualifying.
Then at 5:15 p.m. www.fanschoice.tv streams live qualifying from Long Beach for the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car series.
Saturday begins early on Fanschoice.tv at 2 a.m. as they stream races from the Valencia Ricardo Tormo Circuit as past of the Whelen Euro Series, with the final event having a 9:30 a.m. start time.
Later that day, beginning at noon a race fro Evergreen Speedway followed by one from Langley Speedway will be streamed.
Fox, starting at 10:30 a.m. broadcasts the Xfinity event from Texas followed at 1 p.m. by the Weather Tech race from Long Beach.
Then at 6 p.m. MAVTV broadcasts an ARCA race from Nashville followed at 7 p.m. by the AMA Supercross event from Seattle. The SX points battle is very tight and this even just might be run in the rain.
Finally Saturday ends at 10:30 p.m. as NBC Sports broadcasts Formula 1 from Shanghai, China.
Sunday begins at 10:30 a.m. as Fox broadcasts the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Texas. Then at 1:30 p.m. NBC Sports airs the Indy Car race from Long Beach.
Also at 10 a.m. Fox Sports has delayed coverage of Arenacross from Sacramento. Then at noon MAVTV takes over with a series of delayed events starting with Lucas Oil Drag Boats, then a Pro Pulling League event and finally more rounds from the Lucas Oil Off Road series.
And just a note, remember all times listed are Pacific Daylight Savings Time.
That’s it for this weekend’s preview. If you have a chance do get out and see a race live as there is nothing like it for speed and excitement.
