RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 2 TO 5

As spring approaches more and more racing gets going as racers take to the tracks.

Racing preview for this weekend has another event in our area, another over the hill in California plus a bunch on TV and Internet.

The second race of MRANN’s season is the Battle at Blue Wing Flat. The pits are located north of Toulon by a lake that’s probably not as dry as it was last year.

Saturday begins at 9:30 A.M. with the Pee Wee racers followed by the Mini Bikes, V Women, Bombers and Team Races. The Big Bikes get their turn Sunday starting at 10 a.m. as they race around a 50-mile loop.

This year there is prize money for the top three finishers on Sunday as well as prizes for Saturday and Sunday top finishers.

Over the hill the Prairie City MX course will be open for practice today Thursday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. then from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

A bit further south the next Road to Mammoth qualifier will be held at the Oatfield track, near Turlock, California. Friday and Saturday are for practice, while gates open at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by practice then the racing.

For those eager to get their “cruise,” fix early well fear not it’s going to happen this weekend.

On Saturday the Stay Tuned Society is going to meet at the A&W at 9 a.m. then at 9:30 they’ll cruise over to Summit Racing Equipment at 960 East Glendale Ave. in Sparks. There will be a show and shine from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and a food truck will also be on hand.

Over on TV there is a bunch of programs to watch although many of them are still in the “Rerun Zone.”

Thursday begins on MAVTV starting with a F4 U.S. Championship race, the On The Edge and a Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League event. Later, starting at 3 p.m. the network has Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series followed by Speed Sport and Madera Racing.

Friday begins at 7 a.m. as CBS Sports has FIM Motocross from Qatar. At that same time Fox Sports 1 starts a series of NASCAR practice session from Atlanta as the three top series face off in their first race without restrictor plates.

Racing begins Saturday on Fox Sports 1 at 11 a.m. with the Xfinity race followed at 3:30 p.m. by the Camping World Truck Series event. Then at 7 p.m. the network airs the Supercross race from Toronto, Canada.

That same afternoon at 4 p.m. www.fanschoice.tv has the NWAAS opening night from Tucson Speedway.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race in Atlanta begins at 11:30 a.m. and will again be shown on FOX.

Over on MAVTV starting at 3 p.m. there is an Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series event followed by the Lucas Oil Drag Boats and another Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League event.
