Racing preview for this week has three different events in our area plus a bunch on TV and the Internet. Things begin to wind up Friday evening as Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon hosts its annual car show at Stockman’s Casino. Hours are from 6 p.m. until 9 and it’s a great way to see some of the cars before the season begins. On Saturday the track begins its season. ARENACROSS: AMATEUR DAY AT LEC
RENO (March 26) – Arenacross is divided in two; the Pros race on Saturday or Friday if it’s a two-day show. But at every stop Sunday is reserved for amateurs and they run after the course has been altered for safety. Sunday at the Livestock Events Center started early as each rider either qualifies in heat races for their main event or has to accomplish this in an LCQ. Like in years past there was a large group of riders so to get them all in 27 short races were scheduled although two were combined to make it 25 events.

ARENACROSS ROCKs LIVESTOCK EVENTS CENTER
Indoor motocross returns after several years and puts on three days of racing. RENO (March 24/25) – After an absence of three years the Amsoil Arenacross returned to the Reno Livestock Center this weekend. Even after all this time this is the largest venue on the circuit as they mainly race in Hockey size arenas. The major class, the AX 250 had a tight points race going into the two-day show with Jace Owen and Gavin Faith being tied with the advantage going to the latter. Both shows were going to slightly shake up the run for the chanpionship .

RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 23 TO 26
Racing Preview for this week has a major local event plus one in Las Vegas that has a Gardnerville native competing in it. The preview also has what’s on TV as well as the Internet. First a serious matter. Last year’s Virginia City Grand Prix pro champion Tucker Larrieu had a bad get off last weekend and is in ICU at Renown Medical Center. Saw him Wednesday and it appears he’ll be there through the weekend. Visiting hours are after noon and he’s in the Sierra Tower. After that he will be moved and may spent another seek at Renown.

LOCKETT’S RENO EXPO GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY
Al Lockett’s Reno Expo has been a fixture in March and another signal that spring is either here or not far away. This year the Lockett Reno Expo celebrates its 50th anniversary. The Expo something for just about everybody as there are Boats, Recreation, Travel, Home and Garden as well as a Pet Show. In fact this year there was an enclosed display where people could feed live butterflies. The area NVracingnews was most interested in was the Off-Road and Motorsports Expo. RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 16 TO 19
While there’s not much racing here this weekend there is plenty other events happening plus a special local show celebrating its 50th anniversary. Racing Preview has some good news for those wanting some motocross practice time, a call for entries for a woman’s event, a place to go and get information on public land access and a event that some area racers will compete in. MOTOCROSS SEASON STARTS AT THE SANDBOX
The first race of the new motocross season happened on Sunday. FERNLEY, March 12 – Motocross season began here as the first round of the new Battle Born MX series started at the Sandbox, or the Wadsworth/Fernley Lion’s Club Motocross track as it’s formally known. There were so many riders on hand that it took 19 motos to get all the classes in. One of the wilder starts happened during the first 250/450 Intermediate and Pro moto. This week more racing in our area and even more on TV. Spring is in the air and racers are ready to go. Racing Preview this week has two events in our area plus a growing number of races on TV. However this on weekend the Internet isn’t busy until next week. The Western States Racing Association, one of the MRANN clubs, along with AMA District 36 combine for the Wild Horse Hare Scrambles. SEASON PREVIEW: 4-WHEEL OFF ROAD RACING
This final preview covers the 4-wheel off road racers that includes trucks, buggies and UTVs plus some others. This Season Preview is focused on the 4-wheel competitors as the motorcycles have already begun their season. There is an expanded event coming to our area as well as an addition to an existing event. Should be some great racing for the off road fans this year. Things get started this Saturday with a Mild to Wild Fund Raiser to benefit the Blue Ribbon Coalition. The group is an advocate for keeping public lands public. The trail ride starts at 9:30 a.m.

As spring approaches more and more racing gets going as racers take to the tracks. Racing preview for this weekend has another event in our area, another over the hill in California plus a bunch on TV and Internet. The second race of MRANN’s season is the Battle at Blue Wing Flat. The pits are located north of Toulon by a lake that’s probably not as dry as it was last year.
