While there are a bunch of reruns racing is finally getting going.
Racing preview for this week still has a bunch in the “Rerun Zone,” but things are beginning to change with the start of racing.
Locally Livfast Exit 28 will be open for practice, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
While it’s still pretty slim this week, next week there will be more.
Over in TV land there are plenty of reruns plus a very anticipated start to a new season.
Thursday begins at 3 p.m. as Fox Sports 1 airs a Supercross 2017 preview program. Then at 3:30 p.m. NBC Sports has another Dakar Rally wrap up followed on CBS Sports at 8 p.m. with a Formula Off Road Year in Review.
Not to be left out MAVTV starts one of many shows at 11 a.m. with a Lucas Oil Pulling event followed at 12:30 with the Dirty 30 show and at 12:30 p.m. the network has a Super Cup Stock Car series event.
Friday is pretty slim but at 2 p.m. NBC sports airs some NASCAR programs followed at 3:30 p.m. by the Dakar Rally wrap up.
This year NASCAR has a new title sponsor, Monster Energy and here’s a glimpse at their new logo.

MAVTV kicks off Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with Sand Drags followed by Race Line, then Dirty 30 and finally at 3 p.m. with AMA Pro Flat Track racing
But the most anticipated event is going to be shown on Fox Sports 1 starting with the pre-race show followed by round one of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series. This begins a series of events that lasts through the spring.
If you are unable to watch the race try www.youtube.com early next week and search under title name and year. Last season I was able to watch both the 250 and 450 mains.
Sunday starts at 10 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 airs Monster Jam.
Then at 11 a.m. MAVTV begins a series of programs that include the Lucas Oil Off Road series, Drag Boats and the Pulling League.
Finally at 4 p.m. CBS Sports will also have a Lucas Oil Off Road event.
That’s it for this week. Still slim but the year’s racing has begun.
