This was a weekend of contrasts between two events.
FALLON (Sept 24/25) – Dirt Track Championships and Super Crawl were two very different four-wheel events that dominated the racing in this area. One was fast while the other was way more technical and a heck of a lot slower.
For the past two decades the annual DTC as it’s known ends the season at Rattlesnake Raceway located just east of downtown Fallon. Not only is money at stake but bragging rights as well.
The weekend has two complete shows, one Saturday evening while the second is Sunday afternoon. And a driver’s total points, coming from the heat races and mains are added and whoever has the highest total is the champion for their class.
This was also the final points race for the newly constituted Nevada Pro Stock Association. As normal when Gene Kay gets the lead he’s been virtually unbeatable and he was during the DTC.
Behind him Jesse Gonzalez was second ahead of James Gonzalez so it was a family two-three finish. In the end they were only two points apart while Kay had a five-point margin.
Next were the IMCA Modifieds and that class was very competitive. At the end only three points separated the top drivers in the class.
In the end Chris Nieman won the TDC but right behind him were Cory Sample, who won the second day’s race, and Shawn Natenstedt.
The largest class, as it’s been all year, is Hobby Stock. On this day Street Stocks from 95A Speedway could race but they had to do a couple of things to make their cars legal for the show.
On Saturday Rocky Goetz won his heat and the main event but Shane Ramthun topped the scoring sheets on Sunday while Goetz didn’t. The result was Ramthun won the DTC with Goetz only one point behind him.
Third place went to Cody Morris while Bob Vaden and Mikki Beuchat were tied for fourth.
Moving into the small cars Jesse James won the DTC for the SS4 class by a scant point as he just beat Steve Singley for the title. Kenny Schmitt was a bit further back in third but only two points ahead of Rich Innis.
The GenX division almost disappeared from Rattlesnake Raceway but on this weekend it was back. Eugene Felker, who apparently towed all the way up from Las Vegas, won the DTC for the class.
Five points back in second place was Madison Hood. Unfortunately many of the some of the names of the racers were not listed in the results.
The Outlaw Kart also were part of the two-day show and three of their divisions were on hand to compete. Only the 250’s were missing.
This year there was some prize money along with earning their version of the Dirt Track Championships. In the Beginner class it was Austin Enox while Joel Myers Jr. topped the Box Stock division and Blake Rauscher won the 500’s title.
Usually this pretty well ends racing at Rattlesnake but not this year. Picking up the two-day show dropped by 95A Speedway there will be another two-day shootout on October 8 and 9 that will probably follow the same format as the DTC.
• The other event, Super Crawl presented by Trail-Gear. While it lacked the speed found at Rattlesnake the crawl more than made up for it in technical challenges.
Many of the cars, which are very highly modified for this type of event, usually had a driver and observer, who usually isn’t riding in the car. He helps direct the driver through the course and sometimes will use a line to pull one end or the other sideways to help the driver.
There are several classes and one of the basically used a regular 4X4 with some suspension modification like tires and suspension tweaks.
The courses are very short and teams have a time limit plus penalty points if they knock over a cone or other things. So it’s scored somewhat like golf, the fewer penalty points the higher a driver is rate.
The finishing results are posted at the end of this article.

Who ever wrote this article. Needs to get the facts correct. In the DTC SS4 Races Janet Lunsford did not drive or race this weekend Steve Singley was the driver and owner of the 47 SS4
Already took care of that Steve as Janet was listed on the Saturday’s finishing order
on My Laps.
