Reporters Note: Due to the 4th of July Holiday next week’s racing report will not be out until Tuesday.
Motorsports Preview heading into the holiday weekend is full of action packed events.
There are several local events in our region.
Locally the Evenson Law Office Ironman Challenge for IMCA and Hobby Stock racers is still going on. Tonight they are in Lovelock, where the action begins a t 7p.m., on Friday and Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. the series moves to Fernley 95A Speedway for the next two rounds.
On Sunday and Monday the series moves to Rattlesnake Raceway, with 6 p.m. start times both days. On Sunday the Outlaw Karts will run demonstration races.
Monday is the big day as the car classes and Ironman series finishes in a show that includes the town’s fireworks show during intermission.
So far points leader Cory Sample won the first two IMCA rounds in Tonopah. Unfortunately I don’t have the name of the Hobby Stock driver that scored wins on both nights.
At the rounds in Hawthorne Jeff Olschowka and Wade Taylor traded IMCA victories while Lee Ketten Jr. and Bob Vaden swapped victories in Hobby Stocks.
Another track having racing on the 4th of July is Diamond Mountain Speedway at the Lassen County Fairgrounds in Susanville, California. They too will have fireworks.
For those that need a bit of throttle therapy on their motorcycles Livfast Exit 28 will be open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. for practice sessions Saturday and Sunday.
As we get closer to Hot August nights there are more cruise nights to enjoy.
And once again there is another cruise night Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in Sparks. The location is at Morning Start at 2360 Wingfield Hills Road.
For those in the Carson City to Gardnerville area there is another set of cruise nights but these are on Thursday evenings. The one coming up is at the Carson Lanes – Johnny Rockets.

The classic 4th of July NASCAR Sprint Cup race is on Saturday this year, NBC will carry it beginning at 4 p.m.
At midnight MAVTV will start the final two programs of the World Rally from Poland.
Formula 1 fans have two choices when it comes to watching the latest race. CNBC will carry the event live starting at 4:20 a.m. while NBC Sports, at 9 a.m., has it on a same day, delayed basis.
Then at 7 a.m. the classic road course at Watkins Glen, New York comes alive with the IMCA Weather Tech Sports Car race, 6 Hours at the Glen.
Not to be left out CBS Sports has a series of events beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday with the Blancpain GT Sprint Series, British Touring Cars, Pirelli World Challenge and ending at 2 p.m. with the Trans Am Motor City 100.
That about does it for this weekend. We at nvracingnews want to wish all of our readers and race fans a safe and wonderful 4th of July weekend.
And remember there is nothing like being at a race and seeing it live. Unlike watching TV you get the color, excitement, speed and action usually in a great setting so be sure and try to make one of the races.
