RACING PREVIEW: JUNE 23 TO 26

As we head toward another holiday weekend racing here and across the country is still going on hot and heavy.

Racing preview for this week has something for just about every fan as there are thing happening in the region as well as nationally.

The major event for area motocross racers is the Lucas Oil Mammoth Motocross that’s going on right now and will run through the weekend and into next week.

Once again, we here at nvracingnews want to send our best wishes to the local riders down there.

Closer to home if any riders need some track time Livfast Exit 28 will have practice sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

American Valley Speedway, in Quincy, California, will host a double header this weekend starting at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings. And once again its a $1,000 for the IMCA Modified winner.

NNKC will be in action Sunday at Desert Park Raceway.

On Sunday the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosts its next points race at Desert Park Raceway. Things should get going around 10 a.m. and the track is located a quarter mile past the end of the pavement on Lemmon Drive.

As we head toward the 4th of July weekend there is another series beginning this weekend. It’s the Evenson Law Ironman Series for IMCA Modifieds and Hobby Stocks.

Area IMCA and Hobby Stock drivers are in for a long haul as the Evenson Law Ironman Series has 10 races in as many days. And it begins this weekend.

The series kicks off Saturday and Sunday down at the speedway in Tonopah the on Monday and Tuesday it will be at the newly reopened Hawthorne Speedway.

On Wednesday and Thursday the series moves to the Lovelock Speedway with a 7 p.m. starting time. After that it goes to Fernley 95A Speedway and ends July 4th east of downtown Fallon at Rattlesnake Raceway.

With Hot August Nights coming in just over a month it’s time for cruise nights. Missed this week’s but have the schedule here and next Wednesday it will be in Sparks.

If you like the type of cars we see during HAN be sure to come on out and see them.

There is also much action on the TV side was well.

On Thursday at 11 a.m. NBC Sports airs a K&N NASCAR race followed by NASCAR America. Not to be left out CBS Sports, starting at 1 p.m. has Formula Drift followed at 3 p.m. by Motor Cycle Racing.

Fox Sports 1 gets things rolling Friday at Noon with Sprint Cup Practice from Sonoma Raceway as the senior circuit is going road racing this weekend.

At 4 p.m. on the Internet there will be a short track race streamed from Evergreen Speedway in Washington and you can see that at, www.fanschoice.tv.

Saturday has the next round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series and once again two networks split coverage of the motos.

Things begin when MAVTV airs the first 450 moto at 10 a.m. then at 12:30 p.m. NBC has the second moto. For you 250 fans both networks will split those races as well.

However if one wants to see all the motos in one place they will be streamed a day or so later on www.promotocross.com.

Over on the Internet, at www.fanschoice.tv, there will be a series of short track races starting at 9 a.m. and running into the afternoon.

Then at 5:30 p.m. Fox Sports airs the Camping World Truck Series race from Gateway Speedway.

Sunday starts at 8 a.m. with coverage from the NHRA from Norwalk, Ohio. However the finals will be shown live on Fox Sports 2 beginning at 12:30 p.m. the at 9 p.m. they will be shown, same day delayed, on Fox Sports 1.

At 10 a.m. NBC Sports will broadcast the Indy Car race from Road America then at noon Fox Sports 1 has the NASCAR Sprint Cup event from Sonoma Raceway (Sears Point to the older crowd.).

Once again CBS Sports has a varied fare for Sunday. The network starts at 11 a.m. with a FIA Endurance race followed at noon by German Touring Cars then at 2 p.m. a FIM MX2 race followed at 3 p.m. by the FIM MXGP event.

Once again it is a weekend full of action for any racing fan. But if you get a chance get out and see racing live.

While TV might be good there is nothing like experiencing the action, color and speed of live racing. And if you’re headed over the hill to Sonoma Raceway plan to get there early and don’t even try to leave for two hours after the race ends.
