In addition to the usual suspects, there is a brand new event visiting our area.
Racing Preview for this week has a special event as well as various other motorsport happenings in our area. And the national scene as well is going full blast.
There is a new event in our area, the first ever Silver State Motoclimb at Wild West Motorsports Park located east of Sparks off the Mustang exit on I-80. Riders will face the challenge of a new hill as they race the clock and terrain.
The promoter still has slots open for amateur riders and is hoping some local motocross riders might want to come out and try this.
Gates open Friday at 9 a.m. for campers and registration. Gates Saturday open at 7:00 a.m. Saturday with the first runs starting a bit after 9 a.m. The schedule is below.
Further to east Top Gun Raceway begins the weekend with $5 Fridays for those wanting to test and tune their cars.
On Saturday, beginning around 9 a.m. they’ll have Rounds 7 for the both the ET and Junior Dragsters plus Street Legal drag races. Sunday will have Rounds 8 of the Et and Junior series plus 1/8th mile drags.
Moving closer, Fernley 95A Speedway has a full show with the cars beginning at 6 p.m. Highlighting the night will be the next round for the Northern Nevada Pro Stock Association where the drivers will compete for the $1,000 to win prize.
Down in Feather River country American Valley Speedway in Quincy has another points race beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
For riders planning on competing at Mammoth Mountain the Old Timers MX Club is hosting Saturday and Sunday practice sessions at the Sandbox, or Fernley Lions Club Motocross Track.
Those that are members of either the OTMX or OTHG chapters will have a 30-minute session each day from 8:30 a.m. until 9, after that all sessions will be 15 minutes long.
Not sure about Livfast Exit 28 but if they also may be having practice sessions Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Then on Sunday, at Desert Park Raceway the Northern Nevada Kart Club will host its next points race. As usual 10 a.m. is when things really get rolling.
If any fans would like to send drag racing legend Shirley Muldowney a get well card here is the address. She is recovering from an operation that removed one of her lungs due to a tumor.

Over in TV land things get going Thursday starting at 8 p.m. when CBS Sports broadcasts another World Challenge event.
Friday begins at 7 a.m. with NASCAR practice sessions from Ponoco broadcast on Fox Sports 1. Then at 2:30 p.m. the network broadcasts the ARCA race from this triangle shaped track.
Saturday starts at 9:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 airs the IMSA Weather Tech sports car race from Detroit. At that same time FOX will have the Xfinity race from Ponoco.
Then at 11 a.m. MAVTV airs the first two motos from the Pro Motocross event at Thunder Valley. The second motos will be aired on NBC Sports with a 1 p.m. start time.

This week the Indy Car series is at Detroit as they race a double header. Saturday’s race begins at 12:30 p.m. on ABC.
The Isle of Man TT race is a crazy event that features some fantastic motorcycle racing. Velocity TV, at 8 p.m. will air this annual event.
Sunday begins at 10 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the NASCAR Sprint Cup race from Ponoco.
Then at 12:30 p.m. ABC has the second Indy Car race from Detroit while Fox Sports 1, starting at 1 p.m. had the NHRA event from Epping.
Not to be outdone CBS Sports has a full slate of racing beginning at 10 a.m. with the FIM MXGP series. The network includes a show about drifting, World Challenge as well as German Touring Car action and a Lucas Oil Off Road event.
Over in the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has four short-track races on Saturday beginning at noon. On Sunday, at 2 p.m. another short track race will be streamed. For those that are flat track fans you can also see the AMA flat track races in their video section.
That’s it for this week but remember there is nothing like being at a racing event live where one can fully experience the sound, color and excitement of motor sports.
