Finally racing has begun in earnest here in this area as the Speed Merchants entertain their fans.
Racing preview for this week is pretty full now that the Easter Holiday is behind us. Series, both here nationally and internationally, will be at full throttle.
Locally the oval track season is progressing as Rattlesnake Raceway opens its 2016 season Saturday. Racing, which includes the cars and karts begins at 6 p.m. and round out the field will be the first round of the new series for the Nevada Pro Stock Association as these cars mark their return to the track.
On Friday, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stockman’s Casino in downtown Fallon the track is holding its annual racecar show. It’s a good time to come out, see the cars that will be racing Saturday and meet the drivers.
Motocross racers will also be in action. However Livfast Exit 28 won’t be having practice sessions this weekend as the crew is getting ready for their next race.
The second round of the 775 Spring Classic will be held at the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track, otherwise called The Sand Box.
Practice will be from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday practice begins at 8 a.m. with the first moto beginning at 9 a.m.
On TV CBS Sports broadcasts two programs on Thursday. At 4 p.m. the network airs the FIM Motocross event followed at 6 p.m. by a World Challenge event.
Friday is full choices beginning at 7:55 as Fox Sports 1 has Formula One practice from Bahrain. The network then air NASCAR Cup qualifying at 1 p.m. from Martinsville Speedway followed at 8 p.m. with NHRA qualifying from Las Vegas. At 2 p.m. NBC Sports shows Indy Car qualifying from Phoenix as the series returns to that oval for the first time in several years.
Saturday will also be a full day starting at 4:30 a.m. as NBC Sports has Formula 1 qualifying from Bahrain. After the new system didn’t work the series is going back to a more traditional knock out system.
Then at 11:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the Camping World Truck Series race from Martinsville Speedway. The network then broadcasts the Supercross event from Santa Clara at 7 p.m.
And at 6 p.m. NBC Sports will air the Indy Car race from Phoenix.
Sunday starts at 7:30 a.m. with the Grand Prix of Bahrain as the Formula One series has its second race of the season. Then at 10 a.m. Fox Sports has the NASCAR Sprint Cup event from Martinsville Speedway, the shortest track the series races on.
Finally at 2 p.m. Fox Sports returns with the final day of eliminations from the NHRA event in Las Vegas.
Not much this weekend on the Internet but next week that all changes.
