A little slow this week with the holiday but its another lull before the storm of action.
Racing preview this week is a bit slim as the Easter holiday is upon us. Most national and international series are taking a holiday until things get going with a bang next week.
However there are a few things happening in our region and over the hill.
For drag racers Summit Racing will the place to be on Saturday. The NHRA will have chassis certification there from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
And oval track racers and fans will be happy as Fernley 95A Speedway gets its 2016 season going on Saturday. Not only will cars be racing but they’ll also have the popular chain races as well.
First heat race is scheduled to begin around 2 p.m. and gates should be open by noon.
For two-wheel riders, Livfast Exit 28 Motocross Track will have practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will be closed on Easter Sunday.
For those wanting to get in some time at the E Street Motocross track in Marysville, they too will have practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and will be closed on Easter.
We want to offer our best wishes for local motocross riders, and Team Testa from Minden as they head for the final round of the AMP MX Winter Series, which is part of the GFI series. They will be at Turlock, California on Saturday.
Over in TV land, MAVTV will get things rolling on Thursday at noon with the Dirty 30 show followed at 12:30 by Madera Late Models and at 1 p.m. with Speed Sport.
Friday is pretty slim but if you missed this weekend’s Supercross from Detroit you can see it on Fox Sports 1 starting at 5:30 a.m. NBC Sports will have some NASCAR related programs to fill in the day.
Although March Madness pretty well fills up all the TV time this weekend there are a few things to watch.
On Saturday, at 10 p.m., MAVTV will broadcast the World Rally from Monte Carlo.
Sunday is a bit busier and at noon NBC Sports broadcast a one-hour program, shot last fall, about the Reno National Championship Air Races.
Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the Continental Sports Car Challenge starting at 11:30 a.m. followed at 1:30 by an Arenacross event. Then at 3 p.m., CBS Sports has the World Challenge from St. Petersburg, delayed of course, and at 7 p.m. the network will air a Stadium Super Trucks event.
Over on the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has some videos, one of which is the 75th annual Daytona 200 as well as two rounds of the AMA Flat Track season opener. And there are other selections as well.
One can also view the NASCAR races, Supercross mains and first Indy Car race on www.youtube.com.
That’s it for this week. But next weekend things will get rolling once again.
