RACING PREVIEW: DEC. 17-20

Racing preview this week has a combination of local events as well as a full line up of action on TV and the Internet.

While there might not be racing in our immediate area, there is still some going on. And a couple of local shops are celebrating the holiday.

Today, Thursday (12-17) Testa Motorsports of Minden, at 1581 Highway 395, is hosting a toy drive from 4 until 7 p.m. Santa will be present for photos as well as cookies.

12322523_10207261914059664_7205892175567219172_oOn Saturday Moto Source, at 4900 Mill Street (East of Rock Blvd.) is hosting their annual Customer Appreciation and Christmas Party. There will be many discounts, give aways, food and drinks.

The party is from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and from noon until 2 p.m., Santa will be present..

For those itching to motocross there are two places in California that have racing this weekend.

Over at Tulare, the DF1 MX park is hosting their 2nd annual Holiday Grand Prix on Saturday. Sighting laps begin at 8 a.m. followed racing starting at 8:30 a.m.

Once again Bishop MX is hosting a winter motocross series at the Tri-Counties Fairgrounds in Bishop. They’ll race this Saturday, gates open Racing will be on Saturday with gates opening at 7 a.m.

Locally Livfast Exit 28 will host practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This will depend on the weather so one might want to check their Face Book page.

Weather permitting there will be practice sessions, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Livfast Exit 28 MX track.

Over on TV land MAVTV is running racing programs covering events that happened this year.

Thursday begins at 10:30 a.m. with the AMRA Mud Race event then at noon it’s the Dirty 30 program followed by Madera Late Models.

Friday is very slim but the action begins, again on Saturday at 4 p.m. with ASCA Sprint Cars from Alger, Washington. Then at 6 p.m. it’s Drag boats followed at 10 p.m. by the FIA World Rally event from Finland.

CBS Sports has a marathon of racing on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. with SKUSA Go-Kart racing followed at 11 a.m. with Australian V-8 Supercars.

For the two-wheel fans at noon the network shows the Macau Grand Prix followed at 1 p.m. by more motorcycle racing.

On a negative note, the State of New York will eliminate the Syracuse track, or the “Moody Mile,” as its known after 44 years of racing. And CBS Sports has been covering the final dirt modified races from this famed facility.

This weekend that broadcast will be from 2 until 4p.m.

Over on NBC Sports, from 2 to 4 p.m. the network airs two hours of its Motorsports show. Then Fox Sports 1 will follow from 4 to 5 p.m. with a preview of the upcoming Supercross season, which begins on January 9.

This Internet is another place a fan can get their racing fix. www.fanschoice.tv has a weekly racing show, iRACING on Tuesdays.

On Saturday they’ll have a fans favorite show as well as short track action. On the AMA part of the site one can see finals from the recent Superprestigio event.
