Racing preview for this week still has something for race fans to get their fix.
Even though racing is virtually over for the year there are events being shown on TV and the Internet. So it’s possible for a fan to get their racing fix even in this off-season.
As usual Livfast Exit 28 motocross track will be hosting practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Depending on how much rain we get Thursday, the dirt should again be fantastic for riding.
Here in Reno there’s a special event on Sunday; the 35th annual Reno Toy Run. The event is open to all brands of motorcycles and tickets are $25 plus an unwrapped toy, which gets the contributor into the parade and after party at the Bowling Events Center, where they can bowl for free.
The parade starts at 11 a.m. Sunday and ends at the Reno Bowling Center. Should be a fun time for all involved.
Over on TV the big news is that a Nevada driver will be honored during NASCAR Champion’s Week in Las Vegas.
On Thursday, at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 will have the best of the year on NASCAR Hub. Then at 5 p.m. MAVTV airs NHRA Pro Mods from Las Vegas.
Friday’s action begins at 7 a.m. on CBS Sports with a highlight show from the FIA World Endurance Championship in Bahrain.
Then NBC Sports airs the Sprint Cup Awards from Las Vegas starting at 5 p.m. with the red carpet when everyone arrives. At 6 p.m. the ceremony begins and ends with Kyle Bush being awarded the champion’s trophy and gifts.
Saturday is a bit thin but CBS Sports, at 8 a.m. airs the Australian V8 Supercar event from Sydney.
MAVTV gets things rolling Sunday at 11 a.m. as they show the Lucas Oil Off Road rounds from Las Vegas.
Then at 5 p.m. CBS Sports also shows the Las Vegas rounds of the Lucas Oil Off Road series followed at 6 p.m. by a Trans Am race.
On the Internet, www.fanschoice.tv is taking the week off but they have a lot of racing videos from past events on their menu.
There are two other Internet channels and both are by subscription. One is www.speedshift.tv while the other is www.motortrendondemand.com, which has a bunch of automotive related videos
So even though there is a lull in live action a race fan can still get their fix. In fact one can watch NASCAR and Indy Car races from this past season on www.youtube.com.
