RACING PREVIEW: NOV. 27-29

Racing preview for this weekend is a bit thin but there is still things that will keep a race fan entertained.

Locally the only action will be at Livfast Exit 28. They might have a practice session on Thanksgiving from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for those that want to either work off their turkey or gear up their appetite.

However they won’t know until Thursday morning so be sure to check their Face Book page. They still plan on practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Got a late notice that Livfast is closed on Thanksgiving but will be open for practice on Saturday and Sunday at the times noted.

Right now, until January the action for racing fans is on TV. On Thursday starting at 5 p.m. MAVTV will have NHRA Pro Mods.

Friday starts on NBC Sports at 5 a.m. with Formula 1 practice from Abu Dhabi then continues at 6:30 a.m. Then at noon they’ll show a Best in the Desert race from Las Vegas.

Saturday has CNBC hosting Formula 1 qualifying then NBC Sports either has an additional show or repeats it beginning at 9:30 a.m.

On Sunday, starting at 4:30 a.m. NBC Sports shows the season ending Formula 1 race from Adu Dhabi. Even though the World Championship has been settled both the leading drivers are out to win so we’ll see what happens.

After that CBS Sports ends the day with two programs. At 11 a.m. they’ll show an Australian V8 Supercar event from Phillip Island then at 4 p.m. they’ll show this year’s Race of Champions that happened in London earlier in the year.

For the next several weeks many events will be repeats but there still is some live racing to be seen usually on the Internet.

On Friday, beginning at noon, www.fanschoice.tv begins two days of Amsoil Snowcross racing. This is motocross but on snowmobiles. And there are also two short track races on Saturday so check the website for starting times.

The site also has videos of AMA flat track racing as well as IMSA events that are also replays.

Over on www.speedshift.tv they’ll show the Turkey Classic from Cocopab Speedway. Check the site for times.

Finally last Sunday a native Nevadan, Kyle Busch won the Sprint Cup championship. It was quite a feat considering he missed the first 11 races of the year due to injuries.

And in the same race Jeff Gordon wrapped up his hall of fame career. He began Cup racing the same event that Richard Petty drove in his last race. Well this time Kyle Larson almost won his first cup race so the cycle has continued. Now Larson is one of the young tigers that will be the next NASCAR star.

So I’m adding a small photo gallery of show showing both Busch and Gordon.
