RACING PREVIEW: NOV. 5 THROUGH 8

Racing preview for this week still has a varied menue of live and delayed events including the final race in our region that brings racing in Northwest Nevada to a close.

The curtain comes down on racing in our region this weekend.

The final race in this fall’s Motocross Series will be held in Winnemucca. Practice runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday then at 9 a.m. Sunday the first motos are scheduled to begin.

The motocross season ends this weekend in Winnemucca.

Any class championships and point’s positions will be settled when the final checkered ends the racing day.

This Saturday both Fernley 95A Speedway and Lovelock Speedway host their awards banquets.

Fernley begins at 9 a.m. where people can do hot laps followed by a session at noon to give people a chance to drive the track in a go kart.

A potluck dinner starts a 1 p.m. followed at 3 p.m. by the awards ceremony.

Out in Lovelock things begin at 6 p.m. followed by the dinner and awards ceremony beginning at 7 p.m.

For those following what’s on TV there won’t be much action on Thursday although some practices and sessions can be found on the Leader Board part of www.nascar.com.

Friday is full of practice and qualifying sessions as the top three NASCAR series visit Texas Motor Speedway. The Camping World Truck race begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be shown on Fox Sports 1.

Saturday begins with a Formula E race at 9:30 a.m. on Fox Sports 1. The Xfinity race from Texas starts at 12:30 p.m. on NBC.

Sunday begins early, at 4:30 a.m. with the MotoGP Championship race on Fox Sports 1.

Then at 11 a.m. the Sprint Cup race begins on NBC. A lot is at stake as these are the elimination races that will result in the final four going into the final race of the season. Going into the Texas race Kyle Busch is second in the Championship Chase standings while older brother Kurt fell to eight and is in danger of being eliminated.

At 4 p.m. CBS Sports begins two hours of racing, first with motorcycles and ending with some of the Lucas Oil Off Road races from Wild West Motorsports Park. This Lucas Oil event happened in August but the coverage is quite good.

CBS Sports also has Wednesday evening broadcast of other racing events. Be sure to check local listings for what will be shown.

Then at 4:30 p.m. NBC Sports will broadcast the Global RallyCross event from Las Vegas. It will be delayed but the event happens this weekend.

The amount of racing coverage on the Internet is increasing with live streaming as well as ways to see events after they happen.

The Global RallyCross can be seen on www.RedBull.tv. Other events that have happened can also be seen like the Red Bull Straight Rhythm.

Others, including a Super Boat race, can be seen on www.fanschoice.tv. This week they were covering the SEMA show from Las Vegas.

And for even more events www.motortrendondemand.com has a bunch of series that usually aren’t seen on TV.
