Racing preview for this weekend has a unique and major event this weekend as well as desert motorcycle racing action.
The Nitto Tire Ultra 4 Nationals moves into Wild West Motorsports Park for a Saturday race. If you’ve never seen this event it is one of the wildest races on the planet.
An Ultra 4 is a cross between an all out desert racer and a rock crawler. And they do race across two fields of rocks, and those rocks, well they’re more like boulders.
Saturday is when the main action happened and things really start going around 10 a.m. and continue until the 4400 main event, which is supposed to start at 3:30 p.m.
Further north the MRANN desert racers face off in the Purgatory Peak area. That’s east of the north end of Winnemucca Dry Lake.
It’s the Desert envy 100 hosted by the Tank Slappers MC Club.
On Saturday the Pee Wee’s start the day at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by the Mini Bikes,Women,Vintage, Bomber event.
Then on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m. the big bikes take off and race around a 46 mile loop. To be considered a finisher a rider has to complete one full loop.
Each of these events has as much action as a person could want. And there is nothing like experiencing racing first hand to feel the excitement of the sport.
And those motocross racers that want to tune up for next week’s race Livfast Exit 28 will host practice sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m Saturday and Sunday.
Over on the TV action begins Thursday at 4 p.m. when NBC Sports reairs the Whelen Southern Modified race from Charlotte.
Friday is full of NASCAR practice sessions, starting at 10 a.m. as those racers prepare for a weekend in Kentucky. Then at 4:30 p.m. NBC Sports presents Global Rallycross from Barbados.
And at 5:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 then airs the ARCA event from Kansas.
Saturday has NBC Sports broadcasting the Xfinity race from Kansas. Then at 6:30 p.m. Fox Sports 2 will air the Monster Energy Cup from Las Vegas.
For those not having Fox Sports 2 well there might be another way to see the event. Go to www.monsterenergycup2014.com/live-streaming-schedule. It seems a bit complicated but might work out for Supercross fans.
Sunday begins on Fox Sports 1 as the network shows the MotoGP race from Phillip Island then at 11 a.m. NBC Sports airs the Sprint Cup race from Kansas.
Later, at 1 p.m. CBS Sports has the Australian V-8 Supercars from Bathhurst. All these races are action packed.
The afternoon ends at 5 p.m. when ESPN 2 airs the latest NHRA round.
Over on the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has a selection of races on Saturday.
