Air Race report for Wednesday had two changes due to late qualifying and everyone at Stead Airport had to deal with a windy and cool to cold day. STEAD – Competitors, crews, volunteers and spectators were greeted by blustery, cool to cold weather today. Still the day went on with some revisions as the National Championship Air Races got underway. First up in the morning was the final time for racers to qualify or post better times. And this caused an upset in one class while another pilot improved his times over the one set Monday. Sean Cushing has posted

FORMULA 1 GOES INTERNATIONAL
Formula 1 air racing is not international and one man, with a lot of help from the teams, is working to expand it. STEAD (Sept. 15) – Jeff Zaltman has a dream, one he hopes will bring Formula 1 Air Racing mainstream attention. And with two international air races under his belt, he’s ready for more. “We’re based in Barcelona, Spain and I’m the managing director of the company AirRace1,” he said. “We organize the AirRace1 World Cup which is the international series for Formula 1 air racing. We actually work very closely with the Formula 1 Air Racing Association,

AIR RACE REPORT: TUESDAY 9/15
Air Race report for Tuesday is about the last full day of qualifying, when a popular racing plane threw down the gauntlet in the Unlimited Class. STEAD (Sept. 15.) – The weather improved today, much cooler, still windy but clear skies with a cloud layer high above the airport. FERNLEY (Sept. 5) – Drivers on Saturday at the 95A Speedway were greeted by a smooth, fast track. The result was that fans in the stands got to see some hard racing but for a couple of drivers it was a special night. “First of all I want to take my hat off to Matt Ramthun, Tony Lewis and the whole track crew that came out, ripped this track and worked it. I mean we went 30-laps without a

FALLON 250 GALLERY
Fallon 250 gallery is made up of just some of the photographs I didn’t use in the article about the race. This year the race was divided into two parts; VORRA’s classes started early in the morning and raced into the daylight and dust. A few hours later the Unlimiteds from the ULTRA4 series launched and raced into the night. This arrangement allowed the Ultra4 series to use this race as a west coast regional. This means the drivers can qualify for the Nationals in October with a good finish. All in all it was a full day of hard,
