    Air Race report for Wednesday had two changes due to late qualifying and everyone at Stead Airport had to deal with a windy and cool to cold day. STEAD – Competitors, crews, volunteers and spectators were greeted by blustery, cool to cold weather today. Still the day went on with some revisions as the National Championship Air Races got underway. First up in the morning was the final time for racers to qualify or post better times.     Formula 1 air racing is not international and one man, with a lot of help from the teams, is working to expand it. STEAD (Sept. 15) – Jeff Zaltman has a dream, one he hopes will bring Formula 1 Air Racing mainstream attention.     Reno National Championship Air Races - Tuesday's qualifying

    Air Race report for Tuesday is about the last full day of qualifying, when a popular racing plane threw down the gauntlet in the Unlimited Class. STEAD (Sept. 15.) – The weather improved today, much cooler, still windy but clear skies with a cloud layer high above the airport. And that set the stage for one of the most popular air racers ever to make its mark.     Rattlesnake Raceway - David Ausano wins the Hobby Stock main.

    Rattlesnake Raceway ended the regular season with its champion’s night. FALLON (Sept. 12) – The point season ended for the track and division champions were recognized. And fans got to see a varied program that included cars, Outlaw Karts and Mad Metal Mud Drag Racing. After winning the Hobby Stock main, Dave Ausano was beside himself with joy. After taking a victory lap he jumped on top of his car and waved the checkered flag. “It’s been a long year and feels great.     Air Race report from Monday’s qualifying at Stead Airport STEAD (Sept. 14) – Today began two and a half days of qualifying for those wishing to compete in this year’s edition of the Reno National Championship Air Races. It’s the only event on the planet where pilots race each other in six different classes. The stars of the show are the Unlimiteds and these aircraft have legions of fans.     Racing preview for this week has something for just about every race fan. And one traditional event, not returned to its original venue is doing something special to honor the sport’s history. With Labor Day weekend here, one regional track is ending its 2015 season while another is continuing on. With few races left in the season points are becoming critical for many drivers. Fernley 95A Speedway hosts its second race in as many weeks, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday and all the car classes will be in action.     Fallon 250 gallery is made up of just some of the photographs I didn’t use in the article about the race. This year the race was divided into two parts; VORRA’s classes started early in the morning and raced into the daylight and dust. A few hours later the Unlimiteds from the ULTRA4 series launched and raced into the night. This arrangement allowed the Ultra4 series to use this race as a west coast regional.
