Racing preview for this week includes regional action as well as what will be on TV and the Internet.
Two regional tracks are in action this week with programs that should be full of hard racing.
Fernley 95A Speedway begins their show Saturday at 6 p.m. and this week, during intermission, there will be Compact Car Hockey as well drawings to give some lucky kids in the crowd bicycles.
Then on Sunday, down in Quincy, California, the annual Fair Races will start at 7 p.m. as American Valley Speedway hosts a show featuring IMCA Modifieds, Hobby and Mini Stocks.
And the motocross track at Livfast Exit 28 will have it’s usual practice sessions both Saturday and Sunday.
As usual the TV fare is varied and begins Thursday with a replay, starting at 8 p.m. on CBS Sports of the latest Australian V8 Supercars. These races are always action packed.
Friday is mainly practice and qualifying either on NBC Sports or Fox Sports 1 of either the Camping World Trucks, Xfinity series or the Sprint Cup series. It’s pretty well a NASCAR day.
Saturday beings at 10 a.m. with the Camping World Truck race from Michigan broadcast on Fox Sports 1. Then at noon, on NBC Sports, the Xfinity race from Mid-Ohio will be shown.
Currently two Las Vegas natives are in the championship chase for NASCAR. Kurt Busch, by virtue of his two wins and steady races is eighth on the Chase grid. Younger brother Kyle, who has won four events, is listed second on the Chase grid but is 30th in overall points.
For Kyle Busch the next few weeks, four races actually, will tell the tale if he is in the chase or not. After missing 11 races he has to remain in the top 30 or he won’t make this year’s Chase.
For motocross fans the first motos from Tooele will be shown, starting at noon, on MAVTV while the second motos will be aired, delayed, until 8 p.m. on NBC Sports.
For those wishing to see them later they are repeated on the Internet at www.promotocross.com.
Also on Saturday, www.fanschoice.tv will have several short track races from across the country.
Sunday begins early, at 4:30 a.m., as Fox Sports 1 airs the Moto GP World Championship race. Then at 11:30 a.m., NBC Sports will broadcast the Sprint Cup race from Michigan.
That’s it for this week but if you’re able, get out and see one of our regional races live. There is nothing like it as you get the excitement, color, noise and atmosphere of being at a live event.
