The Racing Preview this week has local motocross riders riding to help a local family with medical costs.
Racing preview this week begins with a charity event put on by Livfast Exit 28 motocross track. Local racer Tyler Moore has an infant nephew that has already gone through one heart operation.
And the baby needs another one so Saturday’s ride day will be a fundraiser for the family. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there’ll be raffles and donations will also be accepted.
Sunday’s practice schedule will have the usual schedule.
Locally, only one race is on tap and that’s a double points night for the cars at Rattlesnake Raceway. Crusher will be there for the intermission entertainment and for the first time in weeks there will be a new Hobby Stock winner.
Scott Tenney has returned to where he’s stationed with the Navy in Washington state, but he may return in September.
As usual there will be a variety of events on Television. This afternoon there are several NASCAR related programs.
Friday, at 11:30 a.m. NBC Sports airs the Whelen Southern Modified event from Bowman Gray stadium. If you’ve never seen a race here I’d suggest you either watch or record it.
The track goes around the football field and races there are known to be wild affairs.
Then on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. MAVTV broadcasts the first motos from Unadilla. With only three rounds left in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season every race is very important.
The second 450 moto will be on NBC at 1 p.m. then the second 250 moto will be at 2:30 p.m. on NBC Sports.
Of course if one doesn’t mind waiting a day or so all these motos can be watch, one after the other, on www.promotocross.com.
For NASCAR fans NBC Sports, starting at noon, broadcasts the Xfinity race from road course at Watkins Glen.
Sunday begins at 9 a.m. for two-wheeled fans as Fox Sports begins to show two motos from Indianapolis followed at 11 a.m. by the Moto GP Championship race.
Also at 11 a.m. but on NBC Sports the Sprint Cup race from Watkins Glen will be shown.
If you’re a sports car fan, the United Sportscar race will start at noon on Fox Sports 1.
Then the drag race fans get their chance as, starting at 6 p.m. ESPN2 shows the final race in NHRA’s western swing from the Seattle area.
Short track fans and AMA flat track fans will want to check www.fanschoice.tv for their latest offerings on Saturday and Sunday.
So be sure and get out to a race as there is nothing like experiencing it live and right in front of you.
