Another week of varied motorsports for the racing fan, including some in this region.
One of the biggest events this weekend will happen at Livfast Exit 28, located east of Sparks. The track is hosting what probably will be the only night motocross this summer.
There will be practice sessions on Friday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Then practice resumes at 3 p.m. Saturday with the first motos slated to start right after that, as they’ll race into the night.
The track is located off Exit 28 on I-80 east of Sparks. Take the exit then go over the railroad tracks.
Also on Friday, the Lovelock Speedway will be in action staging another of its points races. South of Fallon the Top Gun Raceway will have $5 Fridays for those drag racers that want to test and tune their machines.
Then at 9:30 a.m. Saturday area drag racers will begin to time in for Top Gun’s 10th round of its ET series that also includes the Junior Dragsters.
At 6 p.m the Fernley 95A Speedway stages another of its points races with the car classes and it’s the next $1,000 to win night for the Pro Stocks. To entertain the fans there will also be chain races.
A chain race is where two cars are chained together. The lead car has the motor power but no brakes while the trailing car has no motor power but the brakes.
Things start early Thursday on CBSSN at 7 a.m. as the network broadcasts a World Challenge event. Fox Sports 1, at 4:30 p.m. will air the Camping World Truck race from Kentucky.
On Friday at 4:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the Xfinity race from Kentucky.
The Lucas Oil Motocross series is off this weekend but for those that want to see the most recent or earlier races they can be seen on, www.promotocross.com.
NBCSN, starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, will broadcast the Sprint Cup Race from Kentucky.
Sunday begins early as Fox Sports 1 airs the MOTO GP World Championship event then follows that at noon with the United Sports Car race.
At 11 a.m. ESPN 2 shows the NHRA event from Joliet while, at 2 p.m NBCSN has the Indy Car race from the oval at Milwaukee.
And on the Internet, Fanschoice.tv will also have short track races from across the country.
So it’s a varied weekend for almost any race fan. And be sure to get out and support our local racers at one of the events we have in this area.
There is nothing quite like being at a race in person to really experience the sound and fury of the sport.
