    Lovelock Speedway - Frontier Days poster

    Racing preview for this week has a wide variety of events, local as well as on TV and the Internet. Something for almost any race fan. This weekend Lovelock Speedway joins the town as it celebrates Frontier Days. There’s racing both Friday and Saturday, starting at 7:30 p.m., and if the car counts make the minimum, extra money for the winners.   As usual there will be IMCA Modifieds, 360 Winged Sprint Cars and Hobby Stocks racing each night.     Rattlesnake Raceway hosted a night full of carnage, cautions and hard racing. Fallon (July 25) – It was a wild night, at least for the cars at Rattlesnake Speedway this week.   • RACING PREVIEW – JULY 23-26

    Racing preview this week covers the only area track in action as well as a host of events on TV and the Internet. This week local racing is a bit on the slim side but there still is one track in operation. Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. Rattlesnake Raceway, located just east of downtown Fallon, hosts another race featuring both the car classes and Outlaw Karts.   For those riders needing a two-wheel fix, Livfast Exit 28 will have practice sessions Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The action on TV kicks off Thursday when CBS sports

    Livfast Exit 28 and Moto Source teamed up to host a night of motocross action. PATRICK (July 18) – Livfast Exit 28, with title sponsor Moto Source staged the year’s only night motocross. Usually there aren’t any races like this in the area so around 200 riders showed up to take advantage of this one off event. With so many classes to combine or run separately it took 17 motos to give everyone a chance to race. After the first set then the order started all over again.       NNKC beats the heat for a hot day of racing at Desert Park. STEAD (July 19) – NNKC (Northern Nevada Kart Club) staged the sixth round of its points season this weekend at Desert Park Raceway. During the mains there were some very tight races and one young driver got the thrill of his life. When the Jr. 1 Clone event winner 11-year-old Chase Dulude pulled into the post racing weigh in he was overwhelmed with emotion and mobbed by his happy family. “I don’t know what to say, this is the best day of my life,” he said

  • 95A SPEEDWAY – WILD RACING NIGHT

    95A Speedway was the scene of wild racing this past Saturday. Fernley (July 11) – 95A Speedway was spared flooding from the recent storms so was ready to go Saturday. Those fans in attendance got a wild night of racing that had something for almost everybody including an altercation between two drivers. After the dust settled in the caution filled IMCA feature winner Robert Miller was asked if he thought it would ever end. “No, but I’m glad it did. It was nice to have Alex Stanford to tow all they way up here and run with us,” he said.

  • RACING PREVIEW – JULY 9-12

    Another week of varied motorsports for the racing fan, including some in this region. One of the biggest events this weekend will happen at Livfast Exit 28, located east of Sparks. The track is hosting what probably will be the only night motocross this summer. There will be practice sessions on Friday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Then practice resumes at 3 p.m. Saturday with the first motos slated to start right after that, as they’ll race into the night.   • RATTLESNAKE – FIREWORKS ON DIRT

    Rattlesnake Raceway had to change its 4th of July plans due to Mother Nature. FALLON (July 5) – Rattlesnake Raceway had a first this season, a weather delayed race. Mother Nature threw a wrench into the July 4th race and fireworks that was scheduled. Heavy rains Saturday caused the track, after checking with the drivers, to postpone the races until Sunday. But the fireworks were set off later in the evening. Sunday dawned bright, clear and it was going to be hot when everyone arrived.     Racing preview for this weekend has a mix of local and national events to see. Racing this week is a bit light locally but heavy on the TV and Internet side of things.   Things actually begin as Baldini’s Casino on Sparks is hosting its Freedom Festival. Highlighting Saturday is a visit from Livfast Freestyle MX riders. These guys will be jumping their motorcycles high in the air and doing tricks up there as well.
