THIS WEEK’S RACING PREVIEW ISN’T AS FRANTIC AS THE LAST ONE.
Although there is less racing going on in our region this weekend there are still some things for fans so see and attend.
Rattlesnake Raceway, east of downtown Fallon, has another points race Saturday for the cars but this time there will be Mud Drags to round out the program. As usual it’s a 6 p.m. start to the action.
On Sunday the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosts its next points race at Desert Park Raceway. The track is located about a quarter mile past the end of the pavement on Lemmon Drive and around 10 a.m. is when things should get started.
Racing one Television begins 7 a.m. Thursday when NBCSN airs last weekend’s K&N Pro East race from Langley Speedway.
On Friday, at 10 a.m., NBCSN airs a rally cross event. These little cars run on all types of surfaces, including dirt get some air going over jumps.
Saturday is pretty full starting at 4:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 airs live coverage of the Moto GP World Championship.
Then at 10 a.m. MAVTV broadcasts the first motos as the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross gets going again. The second motos will be broadcast starting at 6 p.m. on NBCSN.
For those that can’t watch the motos they can be accessed a few days later at www.promotocross.com.
Then at 1 p.m NBCSN will air the Indy Car Race from the fast oval at Fontana, California.
Also on Saturday www.fanschoice.tv has a selection from various speedways around the country. The shows probably begin in the late morning and continue after that.
Sunday starts as Fox Sports 1 broadcasts a United Sportscar event and then, at 1 p.m., airs the NASCAR Sprint Cup race from Sonoma Raceway, formerly Sears Point. Over the past few weeks many drivers have been testing at several different tracks and the event at Sonoma will mark Jeff Gordon’s final time there as an active driver.
Not to be left out, CBS Sports has the ARCA race from Winchester at 11 a.m. then at 1 p.m. follows with an Australian V8 Supercar race.
Should be a hot weekend but be sure to get out and support our regional racetracks. There is nothing like seeing the action live.
