Octane Fest brings color and speed to Fallon.
The Octane Fest rolls into Fallon this weekend for three days and evenings of action packed motorsports. In addition two regional tracks will also be staging their own races.
On Friday evening at 7 p.m. the Lovelock Speedway hosts another points race while, up at Susanville, at that same time Diamond Mountain Speedway, located at the fairgrounds, will also be in action.
Moving to Fallon the action starts on Friday at 11 a.m. when Top Gun Raceway begins test and tune sessions on the dragstrip. Then, at 6 p.m., there’s a pit party at the Churchill County Fairground followed by Monster Truck Nationsl, Free Style Motocross and maybe the Northern Nevada Outlaw Karts.
Top Gun opens Saturday, at 8:0 a.m. with qualifying runs for the two-day NHRA Open that includes Super Comp cars plus the regulars and junior dragsters.
At 9 a.m. Rattlesnake Raceway, located just east of downtown, has the Northern Nevada Outlaw Karts racing on their track inside the big oval. They are followed at 1 p.m. by the cars and those racing IMCA Modifieds are competing for a $1,000 to win prize.
That evening, beginning at 7 p.m., the fairground will be busy with the second round of the Monster Truck Nationals, Free Style Motocross, Mud Racing finals and maybe Outlaw Karts.
On Sunday Rattlesnake is back in action with Outlaw Karts racing at 9 a.m. followed by the cars at 1 p.m. with another $1,000 to win IMCA feature. However to be eligible for both $1,000 to win prizes a driver must compete on Saturday as well as Sunday. If they only race on Sunday the winner’s payoff is cut to $500.
Local motocross riders that want some practice time will be at Livfast Exit 28 as there will be sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
And both TV and the Internet will also be busy with racing.
On Thursday Velocity TV will air the current events from the Isle of Mann TT race. The event runs all week and features some of the most insane motorcycle racing on the planet.
On Friday, Fox Sports 2 airs the ARCA race from Michigan. Then on Saturday morning that network begins coverage of the 24 Hours of Le Mans at 5:30 a.m.
At 10:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 broadcasts the Xfinity race from Michigan. Then at 4 p.m. the network takes over the Le Mans coverage until 5 p.m. when it switches to the Camping World Truck race.
For motocross fans MAVTV will broadcast the first motos of this year’s Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series from Mt. Morris. NBCSN begins coverage of the second motos starting at noon.

Le Mans coverage continues Sunday first at midnight on Fox Sports 1 then at 4:30 with Fox Sports 2 and back to Fox Sports 1 at 6 a.m.
At 4:30 a.m. Sunday Fox Sports one switches to the Moto GP World Championship event.
Also at 6 a.m. Sunday MAVTV covers the FIA World Rally Championship from Italy.
At 10 a.m. Fox Sports 1 carries NASCAR’s Sprint Cup race from Michigan while, at noon, NBC Sports broadcasts the Indy Car race from Toronto.
And later in the week the Indy Car race can be viewed on You Tube.
And finally the day ends on ESPN 2, starting at 2 p.m., with the NHRA event from Epping.
NASCAR’s Internet channel www.fanschoice.tv has a selection of races from various short tracks across the country as well as the United Sports Car series.
